you can see the materialism. it not far fetch in the future they'll tear down the kabaa and build a 10KM tower of babel over it.

very disrespectful indeed.

money is corruption and oil is the excrement of the devil

. . .
I'm not a religious person myself but you know, times change, religion diminish. Here in the US there is no religion except in a few really backward southern places.

it's not wrong and disrespect. Allah had allowed hotel business.
But tall buildings in arabia are symbol of end times.

Couple of years back, when you would enter the city of Makkah, you could see the Kabab from quite a distance. Now its just hidden by these massive hotels. And these hotels are not cheap, only the rich can offered to stay in them. A reasonable priced hotel is very far away.

Some of these high end hotels have helipads on them. The clock tower hotel has already 5 floors permanently booked for the Royal family all year around.

If you go for ummrah or hajj, it just doesn't feel spiritual like the old days. Now its more like going on vacation.

So who thought it was a good idea to build this 15$ billion worth Big Ben on steroids right next to the holiest place in Islam? Is it true that to build all these (+ the other mega projects in Medina) it was necessary to destroy several historical buildings some of which thousands of years old including mosques, shrines etc?

There's a difference between allowing "hotel business". And charging $10,000/ person for Hajj.

My father has returned from a Umrah, the lack of common sense and organization (abet Umrah) is appalling.
business is not haram. if youcan't afford than don't stay there.

.
indeed it is a disrespect and by demolishing Islamic heritage for materialistic gains should be condemned

.
i find it disrespectful too. If people can travel thousands of miles to visit Holy Kaaba, they can also travel for hotels for lets say one hour.

i think we should ask Muftis and not judge ourselves, to me its disrespectful to build vvip hotels near place where people gather for worship and equality. To you its fine..

well they haven't done anything wrong. You doesn't like it and find it disrespectful is another issue.
The thing is it's not unislamic to make huge buildings near any mosque. Infact many mosques in Pakistan are near shopping malls or bazaars/markets.
Beautiful building with ALLAH O AKBAR at the top is not a bad thing. many people view it as a building from where you can see every holiest place in makkah and for them it's a blessing.
