BAHRAICH: A police constable in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district has been charged with raping a woman at gun point.
Constable Santosh Kumar allegedly raped the girl on Monday. The survivor has filed an FIR stating that Kumar forcibly entered her house, raped her and made a video of the act. He also threatened to send it to her husband if she dared to report the matter to anyone.
A case has lodged and an investigation has begun.
SP Mohit Gupta has ordered a departmental inquiry into the case. Gupta said that if required the accused would be suspended.
According to the survivor she was introduced to Kumar during an election campaign some time back. He asked her to purchase a piece of land and gave Rs 60,000. A week ago the constable demanded his money back and the woman agreed. Since then their relations turned sour, she claimed.

BAHRAICH: A constable, Santosh Kumar, posted at Nanpara Kotwali allegedly raped a woman at the gun point on Monday. The victim said that the constable forcibly entered her house and raped her. She further alleged that the accused made an obscene video and threatened to send it to her husband if she dared to report the matter.
The woman has lodged an FIR in this regard with the Kotwali.
Superintendent of police (SP) Mohit Gupta has ordered departmental inquiry into the case. SP said that if required the accused would be suspended.
According to the victim she was introduced to the constable during an election campaign. The constable Santosh asked the woman to purchase a piece of land in Nanpara area and gave Rs 60,000 for the same. Later, a week ago, the constable refused to purchase land and demanded his money back on which the woman agreed to refund the money.
The victim informed circle officer (CO) Nanpara Aslam Khan about the incident. Later a case was registered against the constable under section 376 and 504 and an investigation has been launched in the case.
Delhi Police SI booked for rape
New Delhi: A Sub-Inspector of the Delhi Police was booked for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl in Saket area of South Delhi, police said on Wednesday.
A case of rape was registered against SI Varun Kumar following a court order, police said.
It was immediately unclear as to when the offence took place although the victim had reportedly been struggling since 2011 to get an FIR registered against Kumar.
The complaint was finally registered after a court order.
"Kumar was earlier posted at Ambedkar Nagar police station. He is currently absconding. Efforts are on to nab him," a police officer said.
