speaking from a country with very tight arms controls for civilians and even restrictive self-defense laws (self-defense is only allowed here if no other option to prevent harm or theft to one self or others can be found),

i can say that i live in a very peaceful country, where uprisings against the government (for instance over reducing the amount of meat that we produce, or over the covid measures or even over the number of Afghans being allowed visas after the retreat) can be struck down by our government using only light force like water cannons and police armed with sticks and tear gas.

i do hope very much that the Taliban can grow a sense of modernity, and allow other interpretations of Islam as a choice for all Afghans. This would mean that adulterers should go to prison instead of being stoned to death, among many other changes that can be achieved only by an inclusive council.

if the Taliban choose to once again make all Afghans live under laws that governed your region thousands of years ago, you will not only become attractive soil for terror training camps, but also destroy much of the international moral credit that you need to get the kind of aid that will help your country prosper.

When Afghanistan adopted its new constitution and ANA was formed, Northern Alliance transferred tons of weapons to the National Army, Ahmad Shah Masoud's faction even had scuds back then and they were all handed over to the Government and ultimately, that was their demise too. Northern Alliance as a whole was always better equipped than the Taliban, and were better fighters, but this time around we didn't even see an organised front against the Taliban.

So, I don't think Taliban would disarm.

East Germany and West Germany merged their armies and police when the re-unification happened.

disarming and civilizing Taliban fighters is need of the time . taliban should regularize them as gov employees with proper uniforms and arms . rest of the fighters should be disarmed and Afghanistan as a country should be cleared from arms and gun culture . if taliban want to rule long term and without more bloodshed and violence its the right time taliban must make current fighters regular civilized disciplined army/ para / security forces . guns should be prohibited specially heavy guns automatic arms and other lethal weapons only non auto and hunting weapons should be allowed for normal afghans .re grouping and retraining of Taliban as a regular army . police force and many other branches of forces like air port security forces/ special police units /border control police / anti narcotics forces /national guards/ can induct many fighters so that no taliban look back to took arms .

i think this chaos and everyone carrying guns in cities markets homes should be end now . just keep fighting and fighting is not solution . society as a whole must be civilized and calm down .lets get example of iran in 1979 they also started like this but now they are one of the most peaceful and educated nice socity on our border .
this can not be a country of 2021 . even islam did not allow to take arms in markets and scare women / kids /elders
