Twenty boys from Crimea joined around 140 others from all over Russia at a military summer camp in the region of Nizhny Novgorod on Thursday, designed to keep troubled teens from straying into crime.

At the 'Guardsman Camp' the teenagers followed a strict military regime of early wake-up calls and canteen food, undergoing basic military training. This comprises of physical work outs, weapons handling and military engineering, among other disciplines and practices.

The course is designed to provide the boys with the stability, life skills and necessary discipline required for success. Many of the boys come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
