I had the Beyond Meat burger once. It wasn't terrible, but certainly not great. The texture and taste were still slightly off. It was actually more expensive than a real beef patty.

If it was served to me by someone, I would eat it. I just wouldn't pick it at restaurants or market.

It was terrible when i had it no comparison with real beef. Vegetarians wont buy as they can have tastier options and meat eaters will obviously not buy. Even mushed up meat like sausages were off when made like this. If they cant get minced up rubbish like burgers, sausages right how can they proper muscle cuts right ?

But this new technology seems different lets see.

I like veggie burgers. I don't need much meat. Beyond Meat tastes like ham to me. I like other veggie patties and products better. If in Japan, and even Korea, the tofu is awesome. Problem with all veggie burgers in Canada is that they usually cost much more than meat. What the funk is up with that? Make them cost 1/10 or 1/50 the price of a meat burger and people will stop eating meat in Canada. That means more meat for Asians who want it. it is simple price creating demand.

Meat substitute are great for vegans or vegetarians but if you are eating them purely for health benefits, they aren’t actually that much better than red meat since they mix in oil to make it taste better. However, it is still better for the environment since the amount of water and land required to raise livestocks is several magnitudes higher.

I have yet to see an independently verifiable energy balance sheet to produce this stuff, so I dont buy this marketing bullshit about being "more environmentally friendly". Not to forget its made out of already edible vegetarian ingredients so its not solving anything in terms of scarcity in that department.

Impossible and Beyond burgers taste ok as cheeseburgers but honestly they are disgusting by themselves. They are mostly made up of various fabricated oils and are just repulsive by itself. In a burger, disguised with other ingredients, they are ok though.
