Didi shares tumble as Chinese regulators launch data investigation

Rubbish. So for DIDI to choose listing in the US is a crime and traitorous action? lool
Ever asked yourself why most Chinese tech companies always choose to list outside of the mainland? You think it's because they are all unpatriotic and hate their country? lol
Dude you should first ask yourself this question. You financial/stock market is closed and still besieged by backward over regulations which discourges your most innovative/brightest tech companies to lost in the US or Hong Kong at least since they are more open/flexible and up to date with their rules/regulations/laws to attract companies.

Moreover, If you want to publicly list your company in China you need to submit an application to the Securities Regulatory Commission(CSRC), which then (if approved/lol) puts you on a long waiting list with several hundred other applicant companies. From what i red this process can take up to 3 years or even more at times. only a crazy company will want to take such an approach waiting for so long when they have an easier more viable choice in New York and Hong Kong. Also, the whole process is, like almost anything in China, highly political and often dependent on one’s personal relationships.
secondly, China’s stock exchanges are very focused on mature, profitable businesses. When it comes to funding, however, this is somewhat of a paradox, since if you operate a profitable business with a sound operating model you are from an operating stance most likely less dependent on additional funding compared to a company that is running at a loss or which doesn't have huge capital reserves at its disposal at that point in time. Therefore, the companies that have the highest interest in raising money on the public capital markets(your unicorns/vibrant private startups/companies) are de facto locked out.
There is also the fact that your stock exchanges doesn't have “dual-class shares”. This basically means that a company can issue ordinary shares with single or no voting rights. In practice, this allowed for example your Alibaba Jack Ma(which funny enough has now fallen out of favour with your government as well. lol) and his co-founders to stay in control of the company while holding only a minority of Alibaba’s shares. This wouldn't have been possible if they had listed in your stock exchange. Hong Kong recently in 2018 adopted dual class shares model as well, in other to attract even more tech companies on their stock exchanges(which has worked fabulously for them as many tech companies have been listing there even more than in the past). These are just a few of many reasons your tech companies don't list on the mainland.

In short, as long as many of your country's financial system isn't changed or reform, then your tech companies will keep going abroad to raise funds/list. Instead of tagging the race traitors label on them , how about you ask yourself why almost all of them don't list on the mainland? lol You guys tend to be too emotional, which prevents you from seeing things from a rational perspective. :disagree:
For security concern US is champion of spying. If Didi fall into US owner and happens to be from the military. then CN security is at stake just like what US said about Huawei.

What are you even talking about dude? What has that got to do with the points i just raised? I'm lost.
I don't see the relationship between CCP targeting it's own tech champions with the US targeting Chinese companies? :hitwall:

.
As a software engineer, I am really puzzled why hackers are so quick to exploit vulnerabilities in USA made system, while me, cannot even hack my own software.

I really believe Microsoft created all these vulnerabilities together with NSA.

You are lost I am not lost as long as the company is not listed in US then it is fine because US is evil and champion of spying. Haha that simple.

.
OS is not that difficult. One can read Linux. A bunch of volunteer can write a system with so little vulnerabilities to be exploited, meanwhile Windows keep having serious vulnerabilities. Windows are written by highly paid engineers.

I believe one day China make Linux user friendly, Microsoft will be doomed.

The United States forgotten that CN was being called a copy cat.
However today CN has more pattern right than US.
US is now a copy cat even copied CN belt and road initiative while talking trash about how evil is this project.
When US has all the power, it does not even bother to help poor nation instead it concentrate to wage war around the world.
When CN started to help world community they became lost.
Look at Philipines being a former US colony what in state of philipines today. The only thing US is helping Philipines is providing arms sales. Lol..........US is a warrior country.

So your government should target all your tech companies listed in the US? LET'S SEE WHAT YOU WILL BE LEFT WITH. LOL

List of Chinese Companies on U.S. Exchanges (stockmarketmba.com)

BRO THAT IS ALMOST ALL YOUR LARGEST AND MOST INNNOVATIVE PRIVATE COMPANIES. LOL That should have been a wake up call to your leaders long ago to reform your financial market/stock exchanges, but they are busy dealing with other things. lol
You will have little left if your government had to target all of them for this ''treason''. lol In short your financial/capital market has been a failure and the government should recognise this and take immediate radical reforms, else believe me your brightest tech companies will keep going abroad to list/raise capitals from western/foreign investors. Private companies will not be waiting for your government to get its capital/financial market in order, private companies function in a different way from your state owned companies who don't have to worry about profitability/growth/innovation/being competitive globally. So the earlier they understand that the better.

.
Dude you should first ask yourself this question. You financial/stock market is closed and still besieged by backward over regulations which discourges your most innovative/brightest tech companies to lost in the US or Hong Kong at least since they are more open/flexible and up to date with their rules/regulations/laws to attract companies.
China also wants to have free fincancial/stock market. But world finance is dominated by US. Which desperately wants to rob China and destroy China's economy. US can not win China militarily. But it can win financially if China didn't set the barrier.

.
US stock is over inflated. It in mostly in intangible sphere. With correction it will pops. CN should avoid US model. And Fed is printing money to avoid the pops. How long they can hold. When it pops these all company value will drop including the CN listed there. Most you lost the intangible value. But US cannot afford the pops that is why the delisting CN company proposal were put on hold they need the imaginary value. They are lost. I personally think the delisting of CN company is good for the future as the pop is imminent. CN companies are greedy to be listed there. US buying power is declining. The people had too much credit card crunch. Is it worth the risk to get temporary access and fun raising versus the pop. Will you want to sell to someone that already had mountain high I owe you. The decoupling of US China will be complicated but I think it is good for China in the future. Is CN need to bail out US again just like 2008 so that they can buy from CN. It was a help of win win situation is 2008. But the situation has been very different now.

But it already happened! My bank started refusing log me in with Internet Explorer 11. My only choices now use Microsoft Edge, FireFox, etc. and have those companies snoop my online banking pages create an accurate financial profile of me including where I live... And store all that info in their mega database like what Didi is doing.

BUT, you know what I downloaded Deepin Linux from China and surprise surprise the Deepin Browser lets me continue to use online banking. (Deepin Browser is based on the latest open source Chromium not the spyware Google Chrome).

Microsoft is indeed dead (or started dying). I no longer need Windows to run Edge, FireFox, Chrome etc. just to log into some Western online banking website. Deepin Linux does all that for me now. Deepin 20.2.2 just released a few days ago can even run Android apps now!

And you see even Windows 11 looking like a cheap Deepin knockoff with centered taskbar! So Microsoft even dying in the aesthetics department.

So that means you agree that your financial market is so weak and fragile that you can't compete globally if they are opened up? lol So you mean Hong Kong is even stronger in this aspect than China? lol
That sounds more like some Chinese on here who were mocking India for closing up many of their market from foreign competition or free trade.
If you keep being afraid of competition/opening up to compete and update your financial market then believe me your financial market will keep on being backward and lagging behind the world for a long time to come. The very same way India's retail market/industry has been lagging behind for so long due to all the barriers they have set up against foreign investments in those sectors. In short, your vibrant private companies will have no choice than to keep fleeing abroad to list and raise capital for their growth since they know China's financial/capital market is so backward that it's almost like it's from another isolated planet. lol This in turn gives the US even more leverage when dealing with you guys. :D Ever asked yourself why your private companies and even officials were so worried when Trump threatened to delist all of them from US stock exchanges?
Imagine the US delisted all your companies listed there, it would have had a terrible consequences for your economy giving how much these private enterprises contribute to your country's growth/prosperity/employment etc. So i fail to see how continuing with this backward closed outdated financial/capital laws is any better than opening up and reform. Anyway, i guess only a major crises will push the CCP to take appropriate reforms in this sector. That's why they often say sometimes calamities/crisis actually happens for a good reason in the long run.
If India's government didn't faced a financial/capital crisis/meltdown during the 1990s they would have carried on with their backward communist like protectionists license raj policies for an even longer period of time. That crisis/meltdown forced their government to adopt the much needed reforms which they should have done decades ago. If anything they should be grateful that they faced such a crisis earlier rather than later, else they would be lacking behind even more than they are today already.

1. You mixed up with manufacture and finance. For manufacture, China is already very open and free for goods export and import. There is already a barrier for goods------customs. China is powerful in manufacture but weak in finance(relatively to US). US is on oppsite side. That's why US urges China to open financial market meanwhile issued tariff for Chinese goods. For a country that is weak in finance, free financial market is 1000 times dangerous than free goods market. Because money comes and leaves at light speed. And too many random(or not random) things can cause financial disasters. On the other hand, for country like US, finance is its most deadly weapon where it can rob wealth from other countries without shedding blood. Financial weapon is 100 times efficient than 10 aircraft carriers.

2. For China, most beatiful part is Hongkong. Which belongs to China but money can not directly enter China mainland from Hongkong. Hongkong is a buffer zone for China's financial security. This is the reason why US tried so hard to mess up Hongkong. China is not anxious to open its financial market because it owns Hongkong.

3. In the long run, financial power lies in manufacture power. Time is on China's side. No hurry.

4. Same theory can be applied to China's internet firewall. Chinese people can go abroad freely but not for the internet information.

Rubbish. So for DIDI to choose listing in the US is a crime and traitorous action? lool
Ever asked yourself why most Chinese tech companies always choose to list outside of the mainland? You think it's because they are all unpatriotic and hate their country?

LoL

ALERT:

Murican--Anglos--Saxon SLAVES are in the house.

The real reason is that they want to protect their SOEs. The average Chinese SOE is not as profitable or efficient as the private Chinese listed company. Their valuation would get wrecked if they open up and allow free market competition in their financial markets lol. Listed SOEs account for 40% of the market capitalization of Chinese companies and they are heavily influenced by the government; which also means the government has a very high degree of control over prices in the financial markets.

Until you see major reforms in their SOEs, which they have been talking about for so many years, you're not going to see meaningful reforms in the capital markets.

Firms will continue to prefer the US/HK for their listing, and that is why HK is still thriving as a financial hub. Isn't it weird that almost all of their tech companies are listed in the US/HK, from BAT to Weibo to Zhihu to Bilibili to Nio to Xiaomi to Didi, basically all the Chinese companies you can list?

Why does SOE valuation matter unless govt wants to sell them
