I am not sure. Some Japanese brands are just on another league as compared to US ones. For instance, Subaru SUVs. I know in the US, Japanese carmakers often introduce watered-down versions as US customers are not so sophisticated. I have made comparison between same models both in US and Taiwan/Mainland.

Taiwan/Mainland versions come with lots of standards that are only optionally available for US customers.

It depends on the vehicle type. Perhaps for sedans, but American trucks are still the best.

Could be, for trucks. But, for sedans and also SUVs, I think the US brands would never be my first choice.

For truck, in Mainland, I have seen lots of domestic brands as well as Isuzu D-Max. Looking pretty good. But no Toyota yet, I guess.

I only like American brands, from trucks to muscle cars to Cadillac sedans. It is a personal choice. I understand that Japanese cars are more reliable and European cars have better quality, but I would never drive those.

Luckily, their share in China's market is declining and US regime's economic warfare is not helping, either.

American cars are better than Japanese/Euro cars in other ways. Their handling, feel, design, weight. Have you ever driven a Camaro or a Mustang? Those are great vehicles.
