Though I doubt it, but I can't be too sure. Did the Pak Navy ever rely on seaplanes for sending supplies or search & rescue? I'd like to know.

I know Azerbaijani Navy uses BE-200 for tactical purposes, but what about Pakistan's navy using float aircraft?

Yes, the PN did use US supplied Grumman Amphibian aircraft-way back in the 1960s. They came as assistance under CENTO/SEATO alliances.

Yes, the Pakistan Navy operated four HU-16. The aircraft were retied hardly after a year's use in August 1981.

On the other hand, Pakistan Navy doesn't really need a seaplane. What purposes would they be used for? The water boundary is small enough to be covered by Frigates and helicopters could be used to any such rescue mission. Waste of sources, the navy is the most efficient in utilizing their fund than Army and Air Force.

HU-16 operated by both PAF and PN. PAF used it for sea rescue duties. It was inducted in 1958 and phase out in 1968

Thanks for taking the trouble to post these pics. Never knew of even a single float plane operated by the Pak defense forces.

Nice share. :pakistan:

PK Naval Aviation was only formed after the 1971 war with india. any 'air' activity previous to this year was performed by PAF on behalf of the PN. PN did not own any air assets prior to 71.
