Russia backstabbed Iran during the past 35 years, I wouldn't call this move by Iran, backstabbing.

I perhaps should have clarified that not all Russian imports should be replaced, only some percentage so dependancy on Russia isn't at 30%. In this conditions, Iran as a large producer is well suited. Together with increased imports from Caspian sea, Libya , Qatar and perhaps Kurdistan i'm sure something can be worked out.

Possibly, but i wouldn't hold official numbers as accurate. Iran has been selling cheaply, underground from the start of sanctions. Then there's the quantity discount that would come into effect over a decade long contracts.

Iran is smart and as a european i prefer iranian gas over russian gas. I see no problem in dealing and trade with Iran.
