I'm not glad about not much fights; I'm very happy there are few fights. I do feel that our present lot are a collective wet paper bag, except for the unexpectedly strong performance by the PAF recently.

It is all about getting a chance to prove oneself.

Back in the days, Their blood survived WW2, Hence the tough and daring men.

Officers nowadays generally grow up inspired from them instead of wanting to become something of their own so that people will see them with same pride like they see the wonderful predecessors.

There is always a grey area in which you and me never know who in the current lot has hidden potential to do wonders.

Girish Sahib was pure Kannadiga, one of the pillars of the Kannada establishment. He married a half-Parsi, half-Iyer lady, Saras, aka Saraswati. This is their son Raghu's account of three friends who went to war.

I found it gripping.

You're mistaken. It wasn't the Air Chief Marshal of the PAF that flew for sorties for an Arab Airforce against the Israelis. It was in fact the Air Chair Marshall of the Congo Airforce that did that...........

While we did have a few bold and exceptional commanders like Asghar Khan and Iftikhar Janjua, the majority were meek and timid like Musa and Ayub.

Back in the days, Their blood survived WW2, Hence the tough and daring men

Lt Col Ayub Khan was sacked and removed from his post as a battalion commander at Burma front after he was deemed unfit for command by the British for showing timidity. That man somehow succeeded in not only becoming the first local C-in-C of the Pakistani Army but also its first and only Field Marshal.

The poor show of 65 and 71 further solidifies that impression.
