What about 84'?
Thing is, all parties are the same. Congress may not do communal politics (it does), but it has done acts which were equally damaging as BJPs communal politics. The recent Naxal attack in CG should be an example.
I am not anti-congress/pro-BJP or vice-versa. And I want BJP in power next term cause I think power should be rotated, and not remain in one hand for long.
But with Modi, I see him delivering. The infra development in Gujarat has been top notch. He may have played communal politics in past. But now, and for past decade, he has stayed away from it. He has had strict control over groups like VHP and Bajarang Dal. The elections in Gujarat are fought based on development, and more emphasis on development than anything else. In all other states, the fight is based on caste or corruption. The opposition alleges ruling party of acute corruption and slow development. The CM candidates are chosen based on their caste.
Congress cant find strong cases of corruption so it drags on the issue 2002. Why should I not believe that Modi govt is one of the most secular, pro-development govt in the country? It fought and won the election on the issue of development. What has he done in past ten years that he should be accused of playing communal politics?
If you say not in ten years, but eleven, than what is your limit? Congress was communal in 84. So it is ok if it was 29 years ago, but not 11?
