What's new

Did 'absolutely right thing' in 2002, Narendra Modi says

It was just a metaphor guys. Modi is not very fluent in English, however the clarifications from the BJP should be enough to put down any controversies. Indian Muslims are not dumb, they can easily understand what is being said and what is not, they don't need congress's interpretation (more like deliberate misinterpretation).

No problem with the metaphor, the thing which concerns me is him seating on backseat while proverbial puppies getting crushed. After all this guy now wants to place himself on the backseat of a bigger and far more powerful car now.

 what a facepalm.

The reality is that a loose dog always bark and thats what he is doing. He is hoping to be Indian PM and i wonder if tommorrow he says he is going to rule the puppies you know as his english is not that good so whats your take will entire India be jumping in understanding?

Congress teaching English to Muslims, I picture that and I get tears of joy in my eyes.

As a chief minister he would have been driving the car, not sitting on backseat. I guess if he ever becomes prime minister, he would prefer to lay back and observe while puppies getting crushed under the juggernaut.

I think he said ''even if'' ... and I was the chief minister...

Gives it a different meaning. Although as chief minister he certainly is responsible for law and order maintenance.

BTW no Hindu bigot would call Muslims a puppy ;)

Agreed with bolded part.

This also implies that he was the planner and the drivers were the executioners.

So all in all a murdere terror spreading goon he is

Yes, that's what it means

Now I know how you were in Zaid Hamid's close circle, great language skills and logical abilities.

Yeah if he said he sat in forward seat the media would be like "ZOMG he deliberately ran over the puppy" and if he was like I didnt sit in the car, it would be interpreted as "ZOMG when Gujarat was burning he was not even in the car". Do read the original reuters interview for the correct context.

And lets face it - Modi supporters will support him no matter what and his baiters would continue on their splendid job no matter what. This issue has long become a matter of idealogy and facts dont matter anymore.

After all this guy now wants to place himself on the backseat of a bigger and far more powerful car now.

Did the fact that at that time his administrative experience was merely 3 months with no prior experience and now he is a 4 time CM with more than a decade of experience factor in that statement bhaya ?

Hindu Nationalist , Muslim Nationalist are brainchild of Savarkar and Jinnah .This Great Nation deserves better.

Technically you cannot be a muslim nationalist. Nationalism is haram in islam. And Hindu nationalism existed even before Veer Savarkar was born.

wow yeh Today everyone even Muslims are happy because Modi is forcing them to act like happy hippies ohhh sorry forgot he called them Happy Puppies who were leaping and jumping in happiness after coming under his car and getting killed in JOY.. oh yeh man nothin happend

Please read on

India is not Pakistan so Muslims need not act like happy if they are not. In many part of Gujarat they have become ultra rich living in houses of crores of rupees and using posh cars which an average Pakistani can only envy.

Regarding Puppy remark, I can not help you if you have any comprehension problem. If you are eager to compare your Muslims brothers to Puppy, I can not help. Enjoy the blast of Quetta & Karachi.

You want people to be sent to camps !? for expressing their opinions?! And call them fascists?!

ARE YOU RETARDED ?

I apologise for him. In India only one group has the divine right to give secular and liberal certificates to others.

That interview was creepy. How someone who aspires to be a leader of India can draw such an insensitive analogy is beyond me. Forget the fact that the analogy is completely erroneous, how someone could make such a choice of words is bewildering in the least. That question was not unexpected, the answer was probably well rehearsed. Would have to believe that it was deliberate & not something that just slipped out. There is also something about Mr. Modi's facial expressions when talking on such matters that is unnerving. He looked remorseless, unrepentant, not something you should expect from a CM whose fellow citizens were brutally murdered. Regardless of whether there is any criminal culpability, there is a moral one just like there was for Rajiv Gandhi in 1984. To simply brush that aside with some insensitive comments is just sad. The guy is honest, hardworking & all but whether he actually have the depth to be an Indian leader is questionable. A lot of Modi's fans operate on the same idea that failed so spectacularly in Egypt. i.e. Run the country as if it were theirs alone & pay no heed to the opposition. While it is unlikely that Mr. Modi & the BJP will ever muster up enough support of their own to do that, the example of Mr.Morsi might be a good takeaway of how not to try & govern a democracy. The belief that one can bulldoze one's ideas through without trying to broad base one's support base is one which is destined to fail & more importantly, one that deserves to fail. Atal Behari Vajpayee, he is not(even if some of his more extreme supporters wish precisely that). Many people did not vote for Vajpayee but very few disliked him & almost no one feared him. That is the only way to go in a country like India. The BJP it seems, wants to go more & more the way of its alliance partner, the Shiv Sena. India needs a right of centre party that is responsible & provides an alternate vision to the left of centre Congress, not a 'B' team of the Shiv Sena, only larger in size.

Thing is, these questions about 2002 riots are always loaded.

Do you regret what happened?

I’ll tell you. India’s Supreme Court is considered a good court today in the world. The Supreme Court created a special investigative team (SIT) and top-most, very bright officers who overlook oversee the SIT. That report came. In that report, I was given a thoroughly clean chit, a thoroughly clean chit. Another thing, any person if we are driving a car, we are a driver, and someone else is driving a car and we’re sitting behind, even then if a puppy comes under the wheel, will it be painful or not? Of course it is. If I’m a chief minister or not, I’m a human being. If something bad happens anywhere, it is natural to be sad.

You have to answer these questions diplomatically, or atleast thats what Modi thought he was doing, if only for the puppy metaphor! If he had simply said that "yes I regret it", people would go, hey look this guy regrets it, he is feeling the quilt, hence he was directly responsible for the Gujarat riots.

Mind you, he didn't just talk about sitting in the back seat, he said whether you are driver or a mere passenger, when you run something over you feel bad. So obviously he ll feel bad when 1000 or so people died, only a maniac would say that he isn't saddened by such a thing. Its open to interpretation depending on which side of the divide you are on.

Funny how there is all this ruckus about just a metaphor and nothing about "Baccha Baccha Ram ka, Raghavji ke kaam ka" gem from Digvijay Singh.

 what a facepalm.

I have no idea what on earth you trying to say, try again.

Then that should have been the stand he took. That would have been the sensible way to go. People can accept mistakes acknowledged, it wouldn't have diminished Modi. Manohar Parrikar used that line & gave Modi a fairly decent way out. Even you will have to admit that this absolute reluctance to admit any mistake, is foolish when there were so many dead people as a result. There was omission even if no commission.

Puppies are cute .... didn't knew Modi also started the appeasement of minorities crap :pissed:
