DI Khan central jail under attack !

And when will this happen. All the blame is on the civlians. No blame is on the mighty PA and ISI. Right?

When was the last time PA cleared its position on war against TTP. What about the confusion prevailing on this war on terror. PA never tried to answer any questions. Half hearted military operations and celebrating a lame Yaum e Shuhda is the only policy of PA.

What about these questions?

1 From where TTP is getting all the money, weapons and explosives?
2 What have they done to stop this supply to them?
3 How many top leaders of TTP have you killed. The only top leaders that we know that were killed were Bait ullah Mehsud and Wali ur Rehman. Both killed in drones attacks. Where is PA in this?
4 What groups of taliban are our enemies and who are our friends?
5 What is their real policy on drone attacks. What exactly is the secret deal?
6 How exactly so many Talibs entered a city, executed an operation and then get away so easily. Only 2-3 were killed. The rest escaped. Will PA tell the nation how did this happened when it was said PA has cordoned on the area?

I agree civilians are bad. But PA and ISI are the worst. They are biggest criminals in this whole drama. There is no justification for what happened last night in Dera Ghazi Khan. No lame military operation in Khyber agency can change that.
the most important of all is what PA and ISI doing. Why do not they stop stop funding and weapon supply. Why there were no action in spite of Intelligence?

Pata nahi kai jhak maar rahai hain yeh. Wasting money and precious resources on themselves and the result is this.

PA and ISI have authority. They had all the authority during Musharraf regime and failed to quell terrorism even then. So leave me this PA don't have authority argument.

+1 When your army chief can dictate your President, why can't they take decision to crush terrorist? ISI has a lots of autonomy too.

This isn't an intelligence failure because there shouldn't even exist a behemoth of an organization like the ttp in the country to begin with. Intelligence is collected on small groups or sleeper cells who are hiding. Not on people who are openly operating their organization.

Just imagine the kind of training centers they have for such a large scale organization. I wouldn't be wrong in estimating they might even have fully built brick and mortar training academy. With full facilities of residence, mess halls, state of the art gyms and firing/shooting ranges. They have recruitment centers where young'ns are sigining up and offered full benefits.

They only thing they lack is an airforce but rest assured they're on their way to acquire that as well. IMO, Pak should seriously consider concede the FATA territory as Talibans. Cut their losses and leave ASAP. They cannot fight with with these guys, let alone win. In the past five or six years of PA's conflict with them, ttp has only become stronger. Let them have their areas and let Americans take care of them.

DI KHAN: At least six people were killed, including five policemen as the Tehreek-e-Taliban mounted a late night assault on the prison in Dera Ismail Khan late on Monday, Express News reported.

The prison, which holds as many as 5000 prisoners, including as many as 250 militants, some of them high profile commanders, was attacked from multiple sides just before midnight. Militants and suicide bombers disguised as police men reportedly stormed the main gate of the prison. Several explosions were also heard after militants launched the attack. The blasts were reported to be a mix of rocket attacks, grenades and suicide blasts.

Up to 40 gunmen wearing police uniforms launched their attack by blowing up the electricity line to the prison and detonating heavy explosions that breached the outer walls, said provincial prisons chief Khalid Abbas.

Militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed the responsibility for the attack and claimed that they had managed to free many of their men.

The assault lasted for over five hours.

Curfew imposed

Authorities imposed a curfew in the area till the matter settles. Deputy Commissioner DI Khan Ameer Khattak appealed to the people to stay in their homes.

Prisoners escape

Reportedly, some militants also managed to escape from the prison following the deadly attack. There were conflicting reports on the number of militants who managed to escape.

DI Khan Commissioner Mushtaq Jadoon said dozens of prisoners had escaped. “The Taliban have loudspeakers and they are calling the names of their friends,” he said.

The TTP claimed that they were looking in particular for two commanders. One of them is Sufi Mohammad, the TTP commander for Swat. The other is Shaikh Abdul Hakim. It could not immediately be confirmed that these two commanders were, if at all, being held at the assaulted facility.

Security forces responding to the attack reported that six prisoners, who had earlier managed to escape, have been recaptured at on Darband road. The curfew was also expanded to Attala road.

At least two suspected terrorists were also killed in an encounter with the police. Police officials claimed that as many as six terrorists had been killed.

Express News correspondent Ramzan Seemab said that militants and security forces were engaged in fierce fighting. Additional contingents of security forces, including army troops, were also been dispatched to the area cordoned off the site.

On Sunday, at least three prisoners managed to escape from this same prison when inmates Dera Ismail Khan Central Jail attacked and took some of the guards as hostage.

Surrounding buildings under attack

Militants have also launched an attack on buildings surrounding the prison, including a radio station and a hospital. A nearby house was also reportedly attacked where the militants took the residents hostage and laid an ambush for security forces’ reinforcements.

Earlier, before launching an attack on the central prison, militants had cut off the electricity to the area.

The central jail is located in the centre of Dera Ismail Khan, surrounded by commercial, residential and government buildings.

Pakistani militants have launched successful raids on prisons several times before. Last year, nearly 400 prisoners were freed when the Taliban attacked a prison in the northern town of Bannu.

After that attack, militants told Reuters they were helped by insiders in the security services.

An inquiry later found there were far fewer guards on duty than there should have been and those who were there lacked sufficient ammunition.

height of incompetency ! I mean there a limit to everything, how can so many of them flee from a jail with the army & police surrounding them ? & all of this when prior Intel was given as per reports, were the intelligent agencies sleeping after that ? why dint they coordinate that info with every branch of the security apparatus & took full measures to prevent this from happening ? this is nothing but total failure on their part

I still feel there is a larger game behind all this and the low ranking soldiers of PA and people of Pakistan are just pawns in this whole war. PA and its generals don't want to beat TTP. There is something bigger behind the curtains. They are sacrificing the soldiers and the people for something else. Something we don't know.

first of all why dont u join army and fix it ..be more vigilent ... TTP have alot of local support... That is the mean reason of failure .. when Pak army do pick some people up, the are embarrased in court ... we as a nation are very confused about how we want to deal with it ... Btw u keep critizing PA and talk about their funds... just compare it with other countries spending on military, specially one who have been in our sitation ... we almost spend nothng

They deserve to be embarrassed. If you really want to defend these guys, then please do answer the question that we have raised in this thread. Who knows if those answers are logical we might agree with you.

I think a brigade has been posted there constantly since the times of British India. Could be wrong though.

And yes, I think the main MP school is there....

1800 ?? Had done an MP course ages back.

all about is security... security of jail is not satisfactory... police has to be efficient....

=> There were intelligence reports that the prison will be attacked..

=> On Sunday, at least three prisoners managed to escape from this same prison when inmates Dera Ismail Khan Central Jail attacked and took some of the guards as hostage.

In Dera Ismail Khan, five prisoners and three policemen were injured during a clash between the law enforcers and Taliban in the local jail on Saturday evening.

Sources said that the clash erupted when Mamoor, a prisoner arrested on charges of militancy, insisted to stay with his other Taliban inmates in their cell instead of going to his own barrack.

They said that the prisoner attacked a policeman after refusing to go to his barrack. They said that Abdur Rahsid, Hakeem Khan, Abdur Rehman and other militants in the jail came to the help of Mamoor.

They were also joined by 60 to 65 other inmates, they added.

The jail staff declared red alert and rang alarm bells to control the situation.

The bomb disposal unit personnel were called and police backed by APC entered the jail, sources said. Police fired tear gas shells and resorted to firing in the air to disperse the prisoners.

The situation was brought under control after one hour. About 500 prisoners were present in Dera jail at the time of clash, sources said.

=> The jail authorities had been issued warnings by the terrorists of attacks for the last three days.

Dude, just woke up... lemme check it out.....

@Hyperion Apparently almost all of the terrorists got out of there alive minus 6 , just how reliable are your sources if the reports now are that 200 prisoners have escaped ?
