Do you have any comprehension problem??? Where in the article it did not say that Pakistan or India will not try to meet its need first!!! The article clearly states that Bangladesh wants to keep it as alternative gas source but all other party needs to agree with it. But some energy officials has shown reservation with it as they preffered importing gas from India and to build myanmar-bd-india gas pipeline.

N stop using the awami dalal or traitor, this or that in every message when you do the same in regards to Pakistan. It is getting really boring day by day.

Coal is for electricity generation but gas is also for house hold and industry ... apart from using it for electricity generation. Do you have any idea how shortage of gas hampering production in many industry??? In the coming years gas demand will increase many fold as more housing and industry will come online. So be realistic. This is not only the option but also importing gas from Myanmar is an option.

No one has given it and no one gives it. Every country needs to find its own option. Bangladesh ask Afghanistan's permission. If they gave it then they will discuss with both Pak-India. Then financial viability will be considered.

What about the prospect of Iran-Pak-India pipeline??? Iran proposed Bangladesh to join the pipeline..

Pakistan is not proving the gas as it does not have the capacity but read the news some official raised objection for this as to them it will not be economical and proposed to consider to import gas from Myanmar...

On the other hand Iran proposed Bangladesh to join its pipeline.

I heard that to bypass Pakistan a new route has been considered as both pakistan and afghanistan is not stable and that is a pipe line to Qatar via Iran and import the gas through under sea pipeline to India.

Anyway I think Bangladesh should go for importing gas from Myanmar. Importing LNG from qatar is already in the card. Not to mention own reserve of Bangladesh.

Even if Bangladesh join it will be for shorter period of time until the gas crisis is over.

You are proposing something next to impossible. India and Bangladesh cannot surmount US veto and go for Irani gas. This is why Turkmenistan gas supply is preferred by these countries. For BD, Iran and Turkmenistan both are far distant countries. Will BD be able to invest in any such long pipeline projects?

Moreover, India is already developing its newly found gas fields in the western BoB. Myammar-Bangladesh-India route could be a viable option if Myammar has enough reserves to sell to both India and BD. In fact, it is best for BD.

Bangladesh will only join if the pipe has been extended to Kolkata... and from there BD will make its connection. This was the proposal of Iran.

I do not think only one pipeline will be good enough to send all the needed gas to all the three countries. There shall be at least three main pipelines running parallel to each other destined for the three countries, one of which will come to BD. So, all things must be decided before the construction starts. It is not that when the pipeline reaches Kolkata BD govt requests Delhi to extend it to BD border. The diameters and lengths of each line must be determined beforehand.

Nominal GDP growth rate is close to 15-20% a year could get you to $5 trillion dollar mark. Besides after certain period taka will gain value like chinese yuan. There are lot of things you need to take in consideration. I dont think $5 trillion dollar economy too unrealistic when Japan has a GDP $4 trillion dollar with half the population of BD.

Thw question is will they able to pay the transit fee ? India is going to pay transit fee to Pakistan and Afghanistan while Pakistan will pay to Afghanistan .... but Bangladesh will have to pay to all the three mentioned countries. Looking at the distance from Indo-Pak border and Indo-Bangla border ... the cost will be too high for BD to afford.
