What's new

Dhaka metro construction finally begins tomorrow

JICA was involved in DMRC phase I&II. He is claiming as if this is the first time Japanese are funding something in the region.
I don't get it, this is such a flawed approach to take when assesing the quality of the final product. Yes, JICA's funding comes with certain conditions (ie sourcing certain things from Japanese OEMs only) but it doesn't ensure the final product will be "the best in the world", that is up to how the work is implemented and the system maintained/operated over time.

The operator's vision is what will ultimately decide if it is world class or not- WDFC is being funded by JICA but JICA didn't create the designs and work plans for the WDFC, that was IR's doing and it will be thanks to IR and not JICA that WDFC is a success and world class.

Such strange logic here.

My question is, are we people capable to set up correct private organizations to learn and do all these tedious works from the Japanese who have very little manpower to help BD?

Short answer: Nope.

You can verify yourself over coming years.

Uh, Mumbai Metro will be touching 200km by 2035 and that's without including Navi Mumbai's metro network which itself will be >80 km. Seriously stop with the delusions.

You will find most BD arguments relying on India stagnating (or reversing) and Force plan 2030 BD-STRONK style acceleration for every "project" (even ones just hypothetically conceived) of theirs.

There is a deep-set envy and certain complex regarding how far behind they are that you cannot address by any means here. It is futile.

.
No we aren't. We are a developing country/Newly Industrialized country & NOT an LDC.

Rest of your post is brainfart- well you can expect anything intelligent from 2 patents an year Bangladeshis can we?

Only 2 patents even though they have 200 million people?!?!?!?!?! OMG what a useless country idk why they speak so highly about themselves.

But, one hate poster says, since we have fulfilled the important criteria of being born out of our mothers' womb same as Japanese, therefore, we are also, by his logic, capable of doing works the Japanese can do. So, I dare to ask him why our countrymen waited for almost a Century for Japan to build our metro rail instead of doing it by themselves?

Forget about Europe, Japan opened its first underground Ginza line on December 30, 1927, and publicized it as "the first underground railway in the Orient." Dhaka MRT-6 is not even an underground, but it is done by JICA though here some one claims he/we can build anything.

By his definition BD needs no investment capital, no setting up of correct private organizations, no learned and trained manpower, no good engineers, no efficiency, no knowledge about scheduling and no others. We are not going any further only because most people, who work in the top govt positions, are as ignorant as he is. The development process of a nation requires development of many relevant other things through many decades' or centuries' of hard labor. But, our people do not understand it.

You are one dumb fella with serious lack of cognitive skill. First expecting efficiency equal to country that has like hundred or may be more years experience in railway building, from Bangladesh & then going on ranting & personal attacks when countered. You need psychiatric help. Go visit one and a Language school too.

"Being not borned as you are from your mother's womb" or "keu mayer peet theke sikhe jonmay na" (কেওই মায়ের পেট থেকে শিখে জন্মায় না) is a proverbial away of saying no one learns without trying, giving time, hard work;overall going through the learning curb.

Now does that include the part I bolded out, idiot?

Even you al cowda roadshitters think highly of yourselves.

Bangladeshis live in delusion of grandeur of Supa Powa 2030 mission where Bangladesh will be the lone standing supa powa on Planet Earth.

I don't know what's your problem with BD dude. No BD poster ever said BD will ever be a superpower. We have set up certain goals which we wish to achieve by 2030 which would make BD a better and stronger country. Are we not allowed to hope this much?

So, why did you say in the first place that only coming out of mothers' womb is good enough to build any technology goods? Learn the process of national development, which BD people like you are just not aware of. Do not do any more bla bla bla. If you do not like my posts, just ignore them. But, do not come out with your normal low key ignorance.

Only one here blabbing here is you, dumb fella. Where did I said that?

Did you even read this part of my last post, idiot?

" 'Being not borned as you are
from your mother's womb" or

I will be very happy to ignore a dumb fella like you & not waste my time. Don't bring this dumb shits of yours directly & indirectly, then I will leave you alone & won't point out the dumb idiot you already proved yourself to be.

Seriously it's unbelievable that you could say something as nonsensical as this either you are totally delusional or truly ignorant.

I'd say it's a good mix of both.

There is a deep-set envy and certain complex regarding how far behind they are that you cannot address by any means here. It is futile.

One trip to Dhaka and you'll be thankful for even Kanpur. Barring the hospitality, the place is an absolute dump with NOTHING to offer.

I hope the metro solves at least some of the nightmarish traffic problems.

Once a total of 5 metro lines are built Dhaka will become a good city to live and enjoy life. Out of five metro lines there will be one loop line that will connect the other four lines at certain junction stations. We are late. But, better late than never.

To all the guys with sceptism:

Read the route map of MRT and BRT lines in, around and through the greater Dhaka City. There will be a total of 5 MRT lines and 2 BRT lines. These constructions will change the quality of living in the City and its surroundings. I was expecting a loop line same as in Tokyo. But, I could not find it on this map. May be the authorities have abandoned it. Anyway, the map shows many mutually connectable stations which will efficiently substitute a loop line.

Even i was amazed when i read they are bulding4 Lane expressway around 30 KM at the cost of 2-3 Billion dollar. Damn we have 300KM motorway at 6 lane at the same cost. so there is some thing wrong some where @Nilgiri
I don't know which 30km expressway you are talking about costed 2-3 billion dollar? The most expensive road ever built in Bangladesh is 53km 4 lane Dhaka-Mawa expressway costed 750 million USD.It is still very high. But there are several reason for it's high cost.
1.Although it is said to be 4 lane but it is actually 8 lane if you consider parallel 2 lane road on both side of it for slower vehicle.
2.It run through 2 districts where land price are highest in Bangladesh. It needed large land acquisition.Land acquisition alone costed 100 million dollar.
3.This project included 8 RCC bridges,19 PC girder bridges, 42 box culverts,2 flyover and 3 railway overpass. All these cost are included in 750 million dollar.
4.High cost to develop soft alluvial soil and consultancy works.

Building road infrastructure in Bangladesh will be costly compare to Pakistan as this is a densely populated land crisscrossed with a lot of rivers with soft alluvial soil.Just think about it, a 53 km highway needed 69 bridges and culverts! This a delta land, so no free sand and stone either unlike Pakistan. And we have to think about the protection against high rainfall and flood so that it doesn't go under water during flood and severely damaged by that. All these consideration add the cost.

I think i was talking about upcoming dhaka elevated expressway which will cost 1.7B USD for 21KM elevated while 26KM complimentary roads.
