He isn't authority of Bangladesh. Unless Bangladesh officially declare it ( which is highly unlikely) , such news has no value.

I have read the news in Bengali as well. There is no such thing that Bangladesh is withdrawing reserve from federal Bank.

There is no way I will make any mistake when reading Bengali news !

So yes that other thread is based on a misleading headline that has little similarities with news body.

It's called click bait and Bangladeshi news portals are champion at it ( misleading headline ) in order to increase view, that in the end beneficial for themselves!

Also this ignorant certificate only lawyer doesn't know that freezing any country's reserve is highly unlikely for USA unless Bangladesh and USA engage in war with each others ,which is very unlikely!

The added clause states that if a country's security agencies or forces are involved in crimes such as torture, extrajudicial killings, kidnappings and rapes, the US government will not be able to provide assistance to those agencies. So far, the RAB has been sanctioned but not other organs like DGFI, Police, or Ansar. The new agreement with America will ensure that the GoB does not use RAB or other organs to intimidate opposition people.

Through the signing of this agreement, I can see the country moving towards democracy as RAB will not knock at the doors of political opposition people and take them away never being seen again. People will come out and organize rallies and meetings and express their opinion with the newly acquired freedom of speech.

I understand people will demand a fair election under a neutral caretaker govt. I have no personal objections if Hasina Bibi and her BAL paty win in such a fair election.

But democracy must be upheld.

RAB was created during so called democracy era and by democracy party ( Jamat and it's lesser version BNP) , and was used against humanity many times when so called democracy was ruling Bangladesh!

A free and fair election commission is much better option.

This is yet to be seen. BD will become a middle power within a decade and india has very little leverage.

US will push buttons where it can on behalf of india. But at the end of the day BD wont align itself to indias interest. It wont align itself to chinas interest either. There is more than enough room for BD to maintain strategic ambiguity. It is inconceivable that in a china india conflict BD would support either. Everyone knows this. Even US will keep out of it.

Only if there is a direct conflict between US and China and that is not conceivable, would happen in the south china sea. In that case BD will remain completely neutral in public and completely in US side in private.

These developments are being made too much off. BD is US centric, has been a long time, if china comes in with loans for infastructure development we will gladly take it but BD is not in the chinese camp, rohingya debacle proved it.

The status quo has not moved even an inch and wont for the foreseeable future.

Agree but I do not think that BD would be totally on US side in private.

BD's strategic interest lies in a stalemate between the two greatest powers on this planet while it builds up it's economic and military might which cannot come for at least another 20 years.

BD would be happy for an inconclusive battle in the S China Sea as a decisive US win would mean that US would be able to apply a lot of pressure on BD to join QUAD which it then may not be able to resist.

We haven't really accepted anything strategic from them. They do have leverage as our top export market but I do not expect the US to mess with our exports as it would hurt major US retailers who routinely "donate" to the Congress.
I am actually glad the US is showing its colours before we sign up for any strategic piece of equipment. F-16V's and Apaches were in contention but now they are out the window.

The current US admin is being run by utter morons. They were this close to get BD on the hook for decades as a customer for big ticket equipment. Boeing and Lockheed Martin execs are probably banging their heads against the wall.

Bangladesh system is not that unique. In UK a month prior to general election the government enters purdah.... in this phase the PM and ministers do not make any significant decision and the nation is run by technocrats. They ensure the election is conducted properly and fairly.

That's the reason national concencus govt can be a solution! And internal force is needed for the consensus IMHO.

Only military pressure can do this job in Bangladesh.

Later after retirement of Hasina , family dynasty will be over once and for all.

Btw , what do you think about Reza Kibria as prime minister? He became the chief of the party of Nurul Haq Nur!

Also there must be an article in our constitution and that is , no one can become prime minister more than two terms!
