General Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff (COAS), addresses Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025
COAS firmly believes that Pakistan is poised to emerge as a leader in the global minerals economy.
He welcomed international organisations to share their expertise, explore investment opportunities, and partner with us in developing the vast potential of Pakistan's resources.
To unlock Pakistan's mineral wealth, Army Chief said we need engineers, geologists, operators, and many skilled miners. That's why students are being sent abroad for training in this field. Currently, 27 Pakistani students from Balochistan are undergoing training in mineral exploration in Zambia and Argentina.
Army Chief further said, the goal is also to build the workforce, skills, and human resources for the minerals sector. Economic security has emerged as a crucial component of national security. Pakistan Army will ensure a robust security framework and proactive measures to safeguard the interests and confidence of our partners and investors.
The development of both upstream and downstream mineral industries in Pakistan will be ensured. It's crucial to invest in refining and value addition within Pakistan to optimize costs and diversify markets. With vast mineral reserves under the feet of the Pakistani people, skills in hand, and a transparent mineral policy, there is no room for disappointment and inaction.
Armh Chief ensured Pakistani and international partners and investors that leveraging their expertise to benefit from business and mineral wealth is collective national aspiration & they can rely on Pakistan as a trustworthy and confident partner.
He also acknowledged the efforts of Baloch tribal elders who have played a significant role in promoting mining operations and the development of Balochistan.
By working together, Pakistan's mineral sector can foster regional development, prosperity, and sustainability for collective benefit.
