Aren't male hurricanes supposed to be bigger and more violent than female hurricanes?
On the satellite imagery, Jose looks like a baby in comparison to Irma.

. .
Very destructive indeed! Miami is a tropical climate, this will be even devastating than Harvey because of the proximity to the Atlantic!

No. Actually, it is the other way around.

So what if it is smaller? If your house has just been destroyed by Irma, you really don't need Jose, do you now?

Hurricane Katrina?
I think you're right. The recent Hurricane Harvey was much bigger than the aforementioned. But don't underestimate how bad Katrina was.

Florida sheriff implores citizens not to ‘shoot at Hurricane Irma’
The Pasco County Sheriff is asking Floridians not to shoot at Hurricane Irma because it will not impact its damage path, according to RawStory.

In a tweet on Saturday evening, the sheriff explained “To clarify, DO NOT shoot weapons @ #Irma. You won’t make it turn around & it will have very dangerous side effects.”

The tweet linked to a story explaining that 22-year-old Ryon Edwards was bored and started a Facebook event encouraging Floridians to fire their weapons at the hurricane to get it to turn around. Thus far, 46,000 people have RSVP’d to the event.

“A combination of stress and boredom made me start the event,” he told the BBC in an interview. It was a fake event that many say was taken out of context.

An explosions of gunfire during a storm only increases the possibility of injuries or harm during a dangerous situation.

Couldn't agree more. The guys who name hurricanes should see your post.
So what if it is smaller? If your house has just been destroyed by Irma, you really don't need Jose, do you now?

Jose would be very disappointed then and might go bonkers.
I remember having read somewhere that male hurricanes are more violent but your pictures made me wonder whether or not there was any truth to it.

Hurricane Katrina?

I don't know anything about Katrina. Was she big?
