I am not sad it is imported, what bugs me is that. We have built modern trainers at home, we have built combat planes at home also light helis and now have experience in combat planes. We have also developed industrial partners and international joint ventures for avionics and sub compenents and many things now are manufactured in India including AESA radars.

But everything is undertesting is poised to stay under testing forever. Their testing effing never ends, if it ends then ends in a failure or change of requirements by the user. Its like a vicious circle. Going on since I was 5 yrs old.

the problem we are facing is good research scientist ,most of the DRDO are average scientist .most of them don't have any idea or exposer about the product they are making ,sometinme they come up with so basic design it's laughable .even if we buy latest weapon with TOT it's difficult for us to work on them
Making Copy is todays mantra buy weapon we need from grey market reverse engineer and come up with new name .
Cheap and reliable and don't worry about sanction.

Duct is visible form the front only, if looked carefully. If they wanted to close the duct, there was no reason to keep the structure their as it creates drag. it has been aerodynamically modified to minimize drag.

The problem is I don't think HAL is in any position to give kickbacks. All these platforms would have been inducted if HAL had appointed a foreign agent to negotiate for the sales to the Indian Defense industry.

I think you have to get into the system to understand the system. See my frnd, you don't built an industry if you dont invest. Whether you invest in a crap platform or an amazing world class platform investing will bring profits in long run. Since 1970s not even a single indegeneously plane has been inducted, if it has then in too low numbers. Reason is Airforce says it is not upto world standards. Chinese planes were never world standard they still mass produced them in 100s. Result is that they are now almost independent in avionics and design and we are 100% dependent. They build 10x more planes and helis per year than we do.

Now India needs 1000 combat planes in 15 yrs, I assure you not more than 70-100 will be Indian that too forcefull put into IAF by govt pressure.

India needs 1500 passenger planes by 2030 according to boeing. We never made them, now we are bound to order them from west. Just imagine if we could build them on our own, if investments were done at the right time.

So we wil only see Indian planes under testing for the rest of our life and foreign stuff will do the job. Thats our destiny.

1. Good administrator
2. Good planning and long term vision
3. Realistic goals and less EGO on indigenous thing mark
4. JV in the field where we are weak or nowhere.

Expecting user to Support ??? What support are you expecting IAF to man it's trained pilots in something that is not upto mark or not competitive to threat ???
Lack of R&D funds ??? I didn't heard any of research about LCA or Kaveri was ever stopped due to funds. Infact the amount of funds invested over the years is making LCA costlier affair

We have built a combat helicopter but we are getting one from Usa and russia too.

Hal's LUH will make first flight by 2013 but still it will only be produced in small number of 187 and rest 187 imported.

New sukhois, t-50 and rafale all coming to India.

All transport planes and helicopters are imported and Hal Dhruv has 95% imported compenents by Value.

Our trainer if flying but we are ignoring it and getting one from Britain even though ours is newer and looks better.

Even a small country like swiss is selling us trainers. In 1970s we made our own trainers but today we can't.

tejas mk1 will soon be outdated and mk2 story will begin another plane another story and another decade.

All sams, and air to air missiles imported. All radars, ew imported.

Conclusion: Indian defence projects are a joke and Welfare program for retired and B grade scientists so don't loose patience just chill

ITS DUE TO OUR POLICIES....WE CAN NEVER TAKE OUR EYE OFF THE BALL I HOPE THE GOVT LEARNS FROM THAT.

Basic subcomponent manufacturability depended on the total success. Not before that. And why we want to produce every single nut and bolt right now when we don't know the final product ???

Everything is imported don't talk like Chinese. There are forgine elements in these projects but you are saying that we just buy it and fit it which is WRONG. try searching before claiming something like that
