Despite Malala attack, Imran Khan stands ground on political solution to terror

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan reached Peshawar on Wednesday to meet gunshot victim Malala Yousafzai where he reiterated his stance on finding a “political solution” to the rising terrorism in the country.
Khan has stood against the ongoing military operations in tribal areas as well as the US drone strikes, maintaining that these tactics only help in producing more terrorists rather than eliminating them. This stance has made Khan the subject of massive criticism where his critics have dubbed him “Taliban” Khan claiming that he supports the terrorists.
The party leader stressed on Wednesday that the military operations being carried out for the past eight years have failed, but maintained that a military option should be retained as part of a bigger political process.
“Even in Swat, such a huge military operation was carried out, but people are still being killed over there. The military operation was termed successful but the military is still sitting there instead of a civilian government,” Khan stated.
“Real success would have been achieved if the areas returned to normalcy immediately after the operations ended.”
Quoting government figures, Khan said that Rs90 billion were being wasted every month on the military operations.

We Pakistanis love our children like Malala Yousafzai as well as every single child. Finding a political solution is a wise move to avoid bloodshed which mostly involves the innocent. I trust leaders like Imran Khan and support him.

What has military operations given to our nation? More devastation and more killings. If we want to continue this, we should go on the military path.

If there is a military operation, it has to be followed by civilian and political solution. The military has succeeded in Swat in only clearing the area. As soon as military leaves, these bastards will be back in town.

You will have to accept it. As long as there is a perception we are fighting this war on American behlaf, there will be confusion among common people.

It sounds ironic, in fact hypocritic when parties sitting in government point fingers at Jamaat e Islami or PTI that they dont condemn those attacks. They do.

But what about those parties which have been sitting in government, with all state resources at their disposal, that have allowed these attacks to continue and still carrying on a war that people of Pakistan dont want to own? Aren't they answerable to whole of Pakistan before they point fingers at others?

Funny things is that when they are cornered, they blame it on Musharraf! Pakistan needs strong leaders. Take the path of peace or take the path of war, do it boldly and do it with conviction. At this moment Imran is the only leader doing it with conviction and boldness required to tackle this issue.

Strange thing is that we want to wear this medallion of 'frontline state against terrorism' and parade around the world to collect some charity and sympathy for our services. On home front, even after so many terror incidents, we dont even have laws to allow law enforcement to carry out surveillance, use cell phone logs and text messages as admissible evidence in a court of law. We have remand law for common criminals and when terrorists are arrested, either remand is too short or the evidence inadmissible letting the terrorist scot free.

If we were so 'frontline', didn't we need laws as well to tackle this menace at home? It just shows our two faced policy and that why our country has zero credibility.

Imran would change his tune the day his OWN children were as vulnerable as Malalai.

But no. the priviliged "foreign residents" are safe and sound like so many Jaheladi-J-e-ha-di supporters on this forum.

It is the biggest idiocy to talk about "politics" with a militant group.

Like putting a piece of meat in front of a jackal and expecting him to wait until everyone has said "Bismillah".

Oh my dear logo, pakistani bhaio,

You do not do political negotiations with militant organizations. Never.

As per Mohammad pbuh Sunnah, you hit the militants, you hit them hard, you kill them, you take their children as slaves, and you get their women as bandis (concubines) and house workers.

You do that until they are all disappear from the face of the earth, or they repent and change their ways for good.

This is the Sharia law for anyone who makes fasad (anarchy) in Pakistan.

But no, the American and UK settled Pakistanis go gaga lady gaga behind the biggest baja Imran, and start this song and dance that we need to invite wild animals to our house to sit at the dinner table and serve them Murghi (chicken) and then they will start loving us and giving us hugs and kisses. Sure will the Talibaboons give you hugs and kisses when they have looted your house and killed your kids like malalai.

And these dimwit supporters of Imran will keep on singing sa-ray-ga-ma-pa-da-ni-sa.

Just like the dimwit cesar who was blowing long pipes while Rome was burning. Just like that.

What a shame.

. .
political solution are figured when the opposition is Human not animal .I had high hopes from Imran ,But I didn't knew he was so naive.

I do agree with what Imran Khan has said. The Pakistani Taliban who shot Malala accused her of westernizing the society. And if you think Pakistani army should wipe that area off militants then you are wrong. During Musharraf's rule a violent backlash in Tribal areas was seen which did not do any good and Tribal Pakistan has become more volatile than before and the blood spill due to collateral damage adds more woes and to add up Pakistan army would be considered stooges of West which would do no good to an already war-torn Pakistan. I am not saying that the attackers should escape punishment but the broader political peace settlement is the answer to the present lawless tribal areas...

Keep going after them, they will keeping back at you, killing our citizen and blasting bombs. Why dont you simple guys understand? We have been doing it since 2004. there is no break to this violence. Dont you think we need to try something different? Everyday we are getting more polarized.

Oh Bhai sahib,

You got it "Reversed", like ulta chor kotwal ko dantay.

They came after state of Pakistan in the name of Sharia. They started Danda bardar Mullahatic tribalism in the middle of Islamabad. OK

Get it?

Perhaps not.

You all live in the comfy apartments in the West and send us the islamist cr@p like that hook-hand Mullah.

We had it OK.

We allowed Mullahs to have their mosque and mad-house madrassahs.

They were not happy with freedom that we as a society gave to them.

So they came after us.

They kidnapped innocent citizens and police officers.

they spread the fasad in our homes while we didn't burn down mosques.

They bombed our minorities and their places of worship

You guys living overseas do not know. You go to look Mullah hand-hook khutba, and come out all pumped to do "nifaz Sharia" and while enjoying the freedoms of the West, the freedom secured by the sacrifices of their soldiers.

But you guys do not know this.

you don't know how societies are run. You just want to follow Mullah hand-hook (who just got extradited to America).

As I said, these talibaboons need to taste their own medicine if we want to stop them. How do we do this? Like I said earlier

As per Mohammad pbuh Sunnah, you hit these Mullahs (so far we have been soft due to insider jasoos Islamists like Mullah fazlu), you hit them hard, you kill them, you take their children as slaves, and you get their women as bandis (concubines) and house workers.

so please do not reverse the logic to prove your support for Islamists.

Thank you

Imran should wise up and realize that there is no "Political Solution", all attempts at reaching consensus through a proposed "Political Solution" has only resulted in a situation worst than before. Case in point:

1) North Waziristan Peace Accord: Taliban spread to South Waziristan and Bannu, over 300 soldiers killed.

2) Bajaur Peace Accord: Taliban spend winters accumulating weapons and improving positions, launch summer offensive in 5 months of signing the accord.

3) Nizam-e-Adal Accord: Taliban spread from Swat to Malakand, Buner, Dir and end up a 100 km from Islamabad.

As it is quite evident, we have already tried the "Political Solution" at the cost of too many a soldier's blood, any further "Political Solution" will be worked over an instrument of unconditional surrender or the TTP shall continue to be hunted till then.

That will never happen. Even most of the Pakistani members here support these types of fanatics. Do as the Arabs.

Most Pakistani expats are poor souls torn between their religion and their society which are poles apart. A severe failure to integrate abroad, results in an Islamist mindset that wreaks havoc back here in Pakistan. You won't believe how much money the Taliban get through overseas expats, especially UK based ones.

Imran wants to take public support away from hard core Taliban (make them unpopular). The only way to defeat Taliban is to bring back those Pushtuns (hearts and minds) from Taliban who joined then in protest of collateral damages or Phustun's love.

Ive seen it, and its quite opposite with the Iranians and Levant Arabs.

Trust me, you'll find very few of those. Most of the Taliban's cadres are composed of the following categories of foot soldiers:

1) Dedicated, Ideological Ones-30%
2) Conscripted-20%
3) Young boys charmed by a life of power-40%
4) Vengeance Seekers-3%
5) Ethnic Supporters-Negligible( The Taliban are a multi-ethnic entity)
6) Hired Guns and criminals-7%
