The joint development of AJT is a old news sir. They recently denied us Javline on tech issue when they definatly knew we can get Spike which is as good as Javline.

American think tanks China is prime concern Not Russia. If that's true they would have been more than happy to build Indian capabilities than restrict it. Their relationship with Pak is more than over and India-China relations aren't going to status quo still border dispute is solved.
And common India is going to get 3rd gen ATGM any how. USA should have missed that apportunity to strengthen relations with India. They missed. And Israel scored a point.

You didn't get my point, I meant if GOI is ready to offer good amount of money for buying the teach. And do you think USA is a holy cow who will give us tech? Don't forget we are buying their engines and they know if we have our own , it means no US engine in future. Talks with French has just failed and that's why its global tender now. Russia shares its most complex tech with India, be it Akula or PAk-Fa or other systems. If Russia wont help, then I don't think any other player will help. There is only one solution to get the engine ready fast, its buying the whole technology if good price is offered and some one is ready to sell. Otherwise this foreign collaboration will remain a dream only.

Buy buying the technology does not guarantee that you can improve on it. What is needed is research to develop the confidence of engineers and develop an engineering team . But to not tie the actual development to research.

One of the scientist who worked on Kaveri was my boss till last year. I think it is a good move, I agree with @sancho rather than having inflated egos and not getting things done. It is important to partner to learn quickly from others and be successful.

Of course not, but upgrading Kaveri with the techs or even parts of a similar class engine is obviously easier than downsizing them from a much bigger engine. Therefor, the mentioned options are the most likely one, but with this ammount of major failures in decision making, who knows what will come.

Eurojet EJ200 should have won instead of GE414.

Definitely, they were ready to provide key techs and offered us even the joined development of their 3D TVC, which we then could use on LCA MK2 and AMCA, but sadly the costs and having an operational naval version (wrt N-LCA, which again shows that it's a distraction for the LCA development), seems to have more importance.

I am sorry but cannot accept that. you cannot interchange parts of any engine. each engine is totally different. what we are lacking most is metallurgy plus other design aspects. Even if EJ 200 is same size you will have to redesign every thing in it to fit Kaveri. similar is the case for f-119. US engines, the newer ones used in F-22 and F-35 have lesser number of parts and higher efficiency. And EJ 200 tech transfer requires multiple countries permission and multiple companies like MTU, RR..

With regards to real tech transfer only few countries like Russia and Israel have helped India till now. so chances are low for other countries. Russia is behind by a generation in jet engines and they are trying to catch up. so if india is willing to invest may be they would help. it could be like the brahmos pattern, where initially they give engines and we develop other stuff and brahmos 2 we develop engine and they develop other stuff.
