Defence Budget 2017-2018

New Defence Budget of year 2017-2018 will be 940 Billion rupees ($8.9 Billion USD) , a 9.3% increase from previous year's budget which was 840 Billion Rupee

@Horus @Windjammer I am wondering whether this increase includes the demanded increase by ACM for air force? He have held many meetings with PM more than 9 in the last few months. Block 3 needs some serious budget which we are lacking currentlt

Total budget outlay is Rs 4.8 trillion which is only 7% increase.

Give some money to PN and PAF guys .. Mirage III's are falling like Mosquitoes and taking lives of our precious Pilots and trainers ..this budget must increase around 800-1000 Million dollars to each PN and PAF ..
if our budget is 9Billion , it can be distributed as 5 Billion for Army and Strategic forces, 2 Billion for each Navy and Air force .. ( include all R&D and procurement )

good thought but tell that to army

only way this can be achieved if army decreases it size for 6.60 lac to 5lac. work on modernization, indigenization, leaner and lethal.

Salary yes but not pensions or other operations inside Pakistan like raddul fasaad etc

tax collection was 11.5 trillion in 2008 when ppp came to power...19 trillion when ppp left....and 31 trillion last year with next year target of 40 trillion.... u tell me

i dont know about accuracy of these numbers but to me it means that PPPP era there was a total of around 90% increase(11.5 to 19) vs total of around 60% increase in 4 years in PML era(19 to 31)

i doubt you can jump from 31 to 40 in a year not possible

U r missing current year, for Year 2015-16 it was 31T, for 16-17 it will be aroudn 35-36T Approx for year 2018 it will be 40T.

well if assume it will reach 38T this owuld be around 100% increase
not impressive not different from PPPP era, which is to be expected in like of zero reforms done by this or previous govt, the lsight increase could be attributed to increase in sale taxes this govt imposed

Well if base value is low increase looks bigger so as we are increasing it the base value is increasing also.

Target for 2017-18 is 4.0 trillion. Non-tax revenues have taken a beating because of low interest rate etc

We normally have a separate defence budget for missiles and nuclear related items.

Anyone knows what that is at the moment?
