Jayalalitha has been CM of Tamil Nadu before. Nothing really new there.

All that has happened is that control of Tamil Nadu has gone to another retarded family mired in corruption.

There isn't any law in here which gets Sinhalese priority, This is 21st century all Sri Lankan citizens has same rights anywhere in the country. Dozens of political parties representing all type of communities. 12% of Tamil community and 8% of Muslim Community and there more ethnic communities here. Current government has dozens of Tamil/Muslim MPs and Ministers.

There are some people who thinking about there race first than their country, They can find anywhere in the world. Y'day I read in some other forum (skyscrapercity.com) that some of people want to divide Tamilnadu in to 3 and have country called "Pandia nadu" ect.

The LTTE is dead and war is over, now its the time to talk peace. India should take a leading role in the reconstruction of the war ravaged Tamil areas of SL. There are many Tamil millionaires out there, both inside and outside India, who can play a major role in the reconstrcution. Establish industries, provide education and ensure equal oppurtunity. There is also no harm in giving reservations to Tamils in Govt sectors, at least for a few years.

The Sinhalese must understand that LTTE was not born out of vacuum. If the conditions of Tamils do not improve, you will have another LTTE in your hand in a few years.

PS: I heard sometime ago about a plan to build a bridge across Palk Straights connecting India and SL. I don't know about the feasibility of this project, but if implemented it would lead for better integration of India and SL.

But what law gives India the right to interfere politically in Sri Lanka over internal matter of Sri Lanka??? The Sri Lankan Tamils either are Sri Lankans and if they are NOT and they think they belong to India then Sri Lanka should kick all of them and send them to them to India.

Last time the BJP was in power they backed Sri Lanka to the hilt.

Most BJP people look upon Tamil Nadu as being Anti-Hindu thanks to Karunanidhi and Dravidian politics.

Most people screaming here don't seem to know that the representatives of the the Indian Tamil community in Sri Lanka (CWC, UPF) are part of the current Sri Lankan administration, and they have been part of almost all previous governments that have waged war against the LTTE. At one stage the Indian Tamil party had the controlling votes - all they had to do was leave the government and elections would have had to be called... but they didn't.

As for the Muslim minority (who are largely Tamil speaking mind you) they have always integrated better into the country than have Sri Lankan Tamils and are part of the current administration, the opposition as well as making up smaller parties like the SLMC (which is also part of the current SL administration).

And for those screaming blue murder, just remember that Sri Lanka's capital city is actually a majority Tamil-speaking city (imagine Delhi being a majority Muslim city or Chennai a majority Kannadiga city), and most Tamils in Sri Lanka live outside the north and east of the country amongst the majority.

The Tamil Tigers had plenty of opportunity to reach a peaceful solution but they walked away from EVERY SINGLE PEACE TALK. They were never interested in a negotiated settlement, even when Ranil Wickramasinghe was bending over backwards to offer them everything and the international community was watching over everything.

The Tamil Tigers wanted a war and they got a war. And they lost.

People die in wars. Nothing new.

But it's better the war ended than drag on forever.

Sri Lankans of all ethnic backgrounds, the country as a whole and the region in general are better off without the LTTE.

Govt of India has to balance tamil sensitivities with international relations.
But if war crimes are committed(which most western countries are saying, not India) should not it be investigated?
LTTE is finished they paid price for their deeds, but surely tamils there need justice, and bringing the criminals who committed war crimes should be part of that justice.

Those who are equating demand for investigation to the charges of war crime with support for LTTE are missing the point, or they want to hide something.
