^^^ THIS is how YOU need to be! THIS is what the masses who voted for you EXPECT you to be...you keep claiming to be a friggin' "pacifist" well the masses didn't vote for you to be a "pacifist", we aren't paying you to be a "pacifist"! You need to toughen up, start shootin' first & ask questions later...the corrupt, be they businessmen, politicians or beurocrats, should be sh!tting bricks as soon as they even hear your name. molvi diesel is your litmus test...if you don't put this fat b@stard in his place NOW and FOREVER...you and your party will have NO future and very soon.

Calm down there cave man.
I get it that the more barbaric amoung us want a literal gorilla in the PM office.

Problem is what happens when the gorilla leaves/dies?
Then what?
hope for another gorilla?
What if you don't get a gorilla?

In the modern world, individual leaders will come and go, we need a system that keeps the country even.
The US can survive 8 years of trump because they have a system.

Without a system you will get Zardari and Nawaz who will literally destroy the country and then you will have to get a PM just to clean the mess. And the cycle will repeat.

The last time we had a hardass as a head of state it was Zia Ul Haq.
He knew how bad things would go if let Bhuttoist crooks and the like have a free hand in Pakistan. Banned not only PPP but politics as a whole.

GDP growth spiked under him and our military had strong parity with India during then.

How do we remember him today? He is a villain to us.

Nah dude...the problem is that we have a bunch of overweight monkeys running around in the form of the corrupt opposition creating a muck...it'll rathe a gorilla to remove them before a proper system can be brought forth. Frankly, Pakistan has NEVER had such a brute force leader including Zia...he did the same crap of playing politicians with politicians...brought the ethnocentric & religious psychos to the forefront not to mention a lizard like gongla sharif brothers!

I agree with you.
Problem is that we are a democracy.
So waving a magic wand is not possible and it should never be possible.

What we need to do instead is work the system to discourage corruption.
We need to make examples of the corrupt.

2 years ago would anyone in their right mind think that Nawaz, Maryam and Zardari would all be in jail?
Have faith in the system. Let it do it's job and we will all be better for it.

do u want to make a shaheed out of the corrupt? they all itch for the moment when they will be immortalized in that manner.

this is a long battle it must be handled smartly.

The natural course is to have them die out I suppose.

don't be an impatient brat. every country has its priorities. Pakistan is not Singapore, we are neck deep in quick sand these emotional and frantic measure will eventually lead to more noonies and peplass favour because they are in railway and PIA. Pakistan first priority is revamp railway and end this truck mafia that is the highest consumer of petrol and diesel to downgrade there oil imports. PIA is also ordering its office and it takes time because "bohat mehnat se tabah kia hay".
as IK put it "with out funds any plan is mere hallucination".

I agree 100%. He didn't mention pacifism on the top of the containers or at his rock concert jalsas. Time to deliver. He says he wishes he could lock up 500 people - he should just do it. Put them in solitary confinement for 4 years, no court hearing, no visitors, doctors or nihari.

Use it as an opportunity to fix the country unabated.

Pakistan is not Singapore, Pakistan is not China, Pakistan is not x y or z.

Why is Pakistan a chaval? Singapore didn't fall from heaven, neither did China. An Iron hand and hardwork forged both.

Mr. Iron hand no country is divine its just Pakistan is under every ones microscope. America has white supremacist problem yet gulalai ismail is hot topic. and many more. InshahAllah thing are going to be ok.but it will be long and arduous journey and every thing has to be place perfectly because we are on FATF chopping block.

depends on the facts of the case. SIA staff were well compensated, Singapore as a small nation was well under control historically will ALL powers including military (!) concentrated at one central point. Kind of a small scale Chinese miracle without the associated bloodshed.

As Imran Khan said the other day, he can 'wish he could jail 500 corrupt people' but even in Pakistan it is not possible to exercise such control by anyone other than a military dictator.

I strongly disagree with the OP.

You just can't compare Pakistan with Singapore. While Lee Kuan Yew was a fantastic leader in bring Singapore up the world stage, it was the culture of hard work and discipline within the people here that majorly brought it to where it was. On the other hand, Pakistan has one of the most patriotic people you would ever see. But when it comes to hard work and discipline, it's not something Pakistanis are associated with. If Imran Khan had done the same to PIA, it would have taken quadruple the effort to set it up as SIA did. Most Singaporeans, on the other hand, would have supported the decision of the government. Yet, Pakistan would most likely have disagreements not only within its people but its own party members. This is not forgetting the fact that Pakistan has poor government policies and regulations.

Lee Kuan Yew could rule with an iron fist, because of the geographic size of the nation which allows him to easily implement and enforce the law. This is almost impossible in Pakistan, where households each have a gun to take the law into their own hands. Pakistan is also a place where politics is more apparent than people coming together. This is where Imran Khan's role as a leader is very important. He has to ensure that he plays this out smartly. If Imran Khan starts to rule with an iron first, he will lose his popularity and turn public opinion against him and his party, whom he had to work 20 years to achieve. This not only applies within Pakistan as a nation but external forces from the world stage too.

However, what Imran Khan is doing now, I feel, is the best he could under the circumstances. He has sure taken his time but has slowly surprised us with his decisions ( E.g. Nawaz arrest, Kashmir's offensive diplomacy, taking steps to tackle corruption). Now let's look at another recent scenario where he has displayed critical thinking and decision making. After Balakot attacks, it was a no-brainer for him to go offensive, and a lot of Pakistanis were criticizing him for not retaliating initially. Yet, this man held his nerve and waited a couple of days before acting. It was this rational thinking of this that brought us not only a military victory but a diplomatic victory on the world stage. Imran Khan's natural instinct, is to think rationally before acting, a rare trait here in most Pakistanis like us who react with emotions. If he had chosen to attack immediately, it may have invited fury and further embarrassment as the element of surprise is lacking. The situation would most likely have gone south.

Conclusively, an iron-fist leader is not a leader Pakistan needs due to the aforementioned circumstances. Pakistan needs a leader, who is able to make a rational decision, in the interests of the country. With 200 million people from different cultures and ethnicities, he needs to keep them united through fair decisions. As the saying goes, a true leader is one who does not make a popular decision, but the right one. In my opinion, Imran Khan is the only leader we have right now to pull us up. Even if I am ever wrong about this in the future, it would still not change my stance, that he was worth giving a chance.

Pakistan and Singapore are no match. we are talking about an economy that has proven herself and an other that is barely surviving and is corrupt.
we have mafias in every sector of the economy and are so strong that they can halt the economy for their self interests and that is what they do.
tax recovery, law enforcement , judicial system and what not. we fail at every place.
if a PM in a county like Singapore cannot talk this way then who else? it is only realized to one when he/she experience something.
i am not siding with our PM but those are facts to be taken care of first.
