The people of any province are emotionally connected to their capital city...maharashtra and gujarat fough for Bombay...haryana and punjab are still fighting for chandigarh...I remember how angry i was when people from andhra were demanding hyderabad when telangana separated from united andhra.
You will only antagonise Sindhis if you separate karachi from their state...sindh has complete right over karachi just like punjab has over lahore ,Maharashtra has over Mumbai or Bengal has over Kolkata.
You will understand these things only when you put yourself in their shoes.

Karachi was originally belonged to Balochs.
Still today, many areas in Karachi have Baloch names. Examples : Malir, Landhi, Orangi, Korangi, Kimari, Ormara, Lyari... Even Mai Kolachi, was a Baloch fishermans daughter. Karachi was historically connected more to Makran, again Baloch area, than rest of the Sindh due to costal line.
Sindhis came forward when they saw Sindh in a geographical map, which was created by British Raj.
And BTW, people of East punjab wept, people of Andhra wept, but did you stop? Because something right was needed. Same case here.

That means karachi has been with sindh for at least 100 years(or more)...i am pretty sure it must have been nothing more than a small village with not more than 50 to 100 families before britishers made it a port city..it was only after britishers invasion had it become what it is today...by your own admission karachi has been the part of sindh for more than 100 years.
And now you want to take it away from sindhis and want to make it a separate province?
I dont think any govt in pak will dare to do take such a drastic step as it will have severe backlash with sindhis even going to the extent of asking for a separate country.
I am repeating...some cities especially capital cities share an affectionate bond with the people of their provinces...for those people its not just another city...it is associated with many feelings and emotions.
