Ex-Sri Lanka captain Hashan Thilekaratne has reportedly alleged that two former senior Lankan cricketers -- Aravinda de Silva and Sanath Jayasuriya -- and former Sri Lanka Cricket Board President Thilanga Sumathipala were involved in fixing international matches.

Hashan met with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and disclosed to him many details about the cricketing scene
in the country that have not yet been revealed, Lanka News Web reports.

Rajapaksa continuously questioned about the fraud and corruption committed by Sumathipala when Hashan gave him details of corruption in cricket.

Hashan explained the role played by De Silva, Jayasuriya and Sumathipala in match fixing, the role played by a Pakistani businessman in the whole matter and the involvement of many well known international cricketers.

Hashan explained all these details to Rajapaksa by bringing out personal issues he has had to face as a Sri Lankan cricketer.

The report claimed former parliamentarian Ven Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero, a popular Buddhist monk in Sri Lanka, facilitated the meeting between Rajapaksa and Hashan.

The President called the IGP after the revelation and said: "IGP, Hashan malli is with me. Close the file on him."

There are attempts to silence me: Hashan Thilakarathne about Match fixing
Colombo, 04 May, (Asiantribune.com): Sri Lankan former test cricket captain Hashan Thilakarathne said yesterday that despite the attempts to silence him, he will go ahead and reveal the names involved in match fixing.

“I love Sri Lanka cricket .There are attempts to silence me. Due to legal advice, I cannot reveal the names right now, but I will reveal the names of those involved in match fixing at the right time, if necessary even to the ICC,” he said at the Western Provincial Council. He is also an opposition United National Party member of the said council.

He said due to his security purpose he has waited for nearly two decades to make these allegations

He has also distributed several documents to the media regarding several other allegations especially against the Cricket administrators.

During the Hashan Thilakarathne’s captaincy, Sri Lanka former skipper and now batting coach Marvan Atapattu has been cleared by the ICC of match-fixing charges leveled against him during year 2004 England tour due to "insufficient evidence".

Then, Sri Lanka cricket Board said the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed dropping the case involving the discovery of 1.1 million rupees in cash in the hotel room of Atapattu during England's tour of Sri Lanka in December 2004.

Sri Lanka's former captains Arjuna Ranatunga and Aravinda de Silva also cleared of match-fixing charges in a report from the International Cricket Council's Central Bureau of Investigation in year 2001. The Indian bookmaker Mukesh Gupta had claimed that Ranatunga, then the Sri Lankan captain, had agreed to play badly in the Test against India at Lucknow in 1994 and De Silva had received £10,000 after the game.
