Actually the fact is that the others never reached the level of State or Official patronage that Ibrahim Kaskar has achieved. Also; though this may seem incongruous...... there were some things that they never became part of.....as the saying goes: "Choron kay bhi Usool hotay hain", so they conformed to that to a great extent. One thing though, "Tiger" Memon never achieved any 'Robin Hood' status on the streets; he remained another kind of person all his life.

He has also at times helped Pakistan secure critical systems for arms and weapons during sanctions.. and also helped funnel money to LeT and the more peaceful(but still generally broke) separatists in Indian Kashmir.

He has plugged land deals and other business ventures between western Businessmen and those from Pakistan/India/China.. and the far east. Moved drugs.. and women from time to time.

And.. he has helped in the construction of quite a few mosques..

Sadly, you trying to romanticize this character. He is no version of any gangster. Gangsters don't go about planting bombs all over a city to simply to target civilians and private institutions where they collect. All at the behest of some government agency.

While I am not apologizing for the man.. I dont think he pulled the trigger. The man is a fixer more than a hitman. Although it is likely that he could have done so in retaliation for what India was doing in Karachi in the period 91-92.. and I lived through that period... every other day you heard of some RAW spy caught here and there.. although in 60% of the cases it was some fellow from MQM that the Army wanted dead.. who just happened to be conveniently dark skinned and "bhai-lingual" enough to be picked up as a RAW agent. Still, a lot of Indian fellows were caught during those times.. trying to stir up Shia-Sunni riots(in cahoots with the Iranians for whom the Saudis gladly stepped in to "help"). The Tit for tat has much longer history than the ages of most of the members here.

I remember Dubai Harbor and Bur Dubai of the 1970s..... dusty and a harbor mainly for Dhows and asstd. fishing craft. What cargo did the Dhows carry? Mainly stuff like Dates and so on, but the really significant cargo was GOLD. Who financed it all? Now..... think again of the Sheikhs. It was simply a business deal for them, but that is where all the Burj and all the glitter and stuff of today has come from. So whatever Ibrahim has been doing is part of that continuing tradition.

Dubai is possibly the most fake and dirty city on this planet. For all its glitter the city was built with a mixture of oil and black money.. and on the backs of poor cheap labour from the subcontinent.. many of whom lived in inhumane conditions and died sometimes without due process..

After all.. it is also the spot where as I have mentioned before.. we had a team from Pakistan comprising of a few of its top scientists and engineers.. and a team from India with the same.. sitting in the same drawing room sharing a tea pot.. each knowing who the other was and probably both curious and scared of why the other was there.
