Davutoglu: Liberation of occupied Azerbaijani lands strategic goal for Turkey

As I said, Turkey chose to take upon itself the task of reclaiming Azeri land. I don't know why, but that's what the article stated. So I will answer your question with my own, still unanswered question: Why did Turkey restrict itself to reclaiming Azeri land from Armenia, and not Azeri land from Iran? Other than the fact that Armenia is weaker than Iran, I see one major difference between Armenia and Iran, which I have stated. Please answer the question this time so I can understand your perspective on this.
Why open another open hostile front with another nation while there is an unfinished business? At the moment i can only imagine Azerbaijan and Turkey jump on South Azerbaijan when Iran is in a situation of weakness/chaos. has nothing to do with religion, but with the course of the history imo.

What is turkey's benefit in getting involved in a tussle with the bear over azerbaijani and armenians smacking each other, just another mess, turkey should stay clear of..syria should have taught davotglu well and that was next door.Instead turkey should hijack the food exports of EU to russia for itself during the ban and profit.Turkish foreign policy has been highly erratic lately..blunders in egypt-diplomatic relations and economic-military deals scrapped, blunders in syria-no benefit except having the burden of a million refugees on its economy,Israel-confusion,Iraq- mess with kurds compl;icating picture...last thing they need is another problem with russia.

turkish ministry of agriculture had already met with russian counterparts. agreements were reached between the two. i myself met several russian businessmen in ankara who are trying to benefit from these agreements. one is even learning turkish solely for this purpose :)
same is true for central asian turkic republics. veggie and fruit exports from central asian states to russia almost doubled since russia implemented ban on eu.

And how exactly will Turkey achieve that ? Armenia is a member of CSTO.

armenia is a member of csto, but self-proclaimed nagorno-karabagh republic is not.

An all-out invasion of Azerbaijani lands are considered as an act of war for the Turkish State, no matter who's in charge. Be it Erdogan or anyone else.

Probably if war errupts between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Turkey won't get involved. Only if a third party such as Russia or Iran gets involved I see Turkey getting involved.

So with this sentence, you are exactly saying that Iran is authorized to arm PKK to the teeth, right? And you won't complain about it? Actually you wouldn't have a right to complain, given this hostile mindset.

Iran already armed PKK and give them intel. Thousands of Turkish soldiers died because of that and countless Kurdish and Turkish civilians lost. How are you going to pay for that?

Iranian generals are still threatening to attack Turkey and there was even one Iranian advisor on TV who said "we should arm PKK again". It was a year ago or something.

The thing is we have a history with Iran and we have to be ready to defend Azerbaijan and Azeri in Iran.

Not interested atatwolf, we have been in this place before. My answer was solely intended for @usernameless

You and I have had this discussion and believe me, it's going nowhere.

Does that include South Azerbaijan, or is this purely an anti-kuffar affair?
by looks of it its purely anti kufar affair...turkey has commited mass crimes against armenians back then this is 21 century ...if turkey venture into such kind of adventures there will be big problems turkey needs to face

21th century? That is between 2000-2014.

It is not a dicussion. Iran admitted using PKK against Turkey. We never used Azeri against Iran. This might change if Iran doesn't adjust her behavior. Uernameless meant that.

Why should i complain? Are you naive to believe Iran wouldn't try to influence developments in Turkey when our country is in a mess? I thought you'd know countries look after their interests first. Turkey has stronger link with Azerbaijan than Iran has with Turkish kurds.

So your interests lies in messing with Iran in case it becomes weak? No it's not Turkey's interest to cause unrest in its neighbors. Erdogan thought he is too smart that he can get away from arming and giving free pass to Syrian rebels, now look what happened, you have border posts with IS, plus nearly one million refugees. So no, it's not your interest to do what you said, it's just your preferred racial scenario. In other words you said that solely based on race and ethnicity, which is not surprising.

No worries, even in our weakest point, Turkey and Azerbaijan can't and won't directly mess with us, or they would feel the blow back. This is not a jungle, the world has some basic rules. So it's in our best interest to at least pretend we are friends, like the current Iran-Turkey relations, so both sides with benefit economically. We are currently your third or fifth largest trading partner if I'm not mistaken.

In a modern jungle, there are still nature laws, and animals act following a clear line of actions.

I don't care about this topic, but I needed to clarify something when my country was mentioned.
And yes, I'm 'originally' Iranian. :)

I don't have a problem with your 'brotherly' relations with republic of Azerbaijan, but please keep my country of it.

peace bro.

Hilarity of some of the Turkish members thinking Turkey will get involved in a Armenia-Azerbaijan fist fight. Azerbaijan will end up with a bloody nose again..

If Iran was at war with anyone, you could bet every dime on Iran having a new Administration within 3 years and be wealthier for it.

Bro, i'm not advocating for our govt to start a mess with Iran. All i am saying is that once there is a weakness in Iran, Turkey and Azerbaijan will probably make use of it and encourage Iranian Azerbaijanis. Just like Russia is doing in Ukraine. You can be angry with me, but this is how real life seem to work. Iran too would use a moment of weakness as a chance to weaken/influence its neighbor. It has always been like this in the past for nations and who says it will change now? Actually i would be more surprised when Iran wouldnt try to mess/influence in Turkey if Turkey was destabalized like Syria or Iraq. I'm generally speaking, not advocating for conflict between our countries.
