Daniel Pearl’s parents honour victims of Peshawar school attack – The Express Tribune
Daniel Pearl’s father stated that, “I remembered such gestures helped us in our tragedy, made us feel like the world is with us in the sense that the world is making a step not to allow it to continue. But the world did allow it to continue. But at that time it felt like a turning point, and every grieving family should feel that way. That the sacrifice made was a turning point.”
The words of Daniel Pearl’s parents strike a very serious chord regarding how we look at suicide attacks and terrorist atrocities. These kinds of attacks have become routine, so much so that people of the AF/PAK region almost expect it. Daniel Pearl’s father stated that gestures of solidarity and sympathy helped them both when their son was captured and beheaded by the Taliban. Hopefully messages of sympathy and condolences would also help the families of the people who lost their children at the Peshawar attack. Hopefully when the coming of the New Year, we all stand in solidarity and improve our combined efforts in defeating these brutal murders so families such as Daniel Pearl’s and those of Army Public School Peshawar would get justice.
