Dandruff: does it afflict Pakistan's army?

Why not we are taking advantage of dandruf by putting the dandruff rich soldiers to the siachin posts , they would be naturally camouflaged and there heads wont be strike by enemy soldiers, and we would save alot of money by this way ............................................ I have one more suggestion we should collect all our soldiers having shaved head and designate them at the desert frontlines and they can be used for natural reflection of sunlight and the enemy soldiers will have to face more light intensity .................................................................... I think this problem is either in our genes or caused by the damn hot curries we eat.

I began losing hair due to excessive dandruff couple years ago, tried all sorts of shampoos but nothing worked, so i shaved my head last year n been shaving it ever since. Apparently hair stopped falling somehow, but i still notice some dandruff every now n then

So the soldiers should heed my advice n run the lawn mower. + no hair, no tension :P

As I stated , what alot of people don't know is that commercial shampoo ( not the real medical ones) when you use these Shampoos , what they do is they clean the upper hair , but alot of it is left on the scalp and lower hairlines and it accumulates

This creates a itchy and flaky syndrome for people

a) When you shave your head
b) Make sure you hydrate the skin some sort of moisturizer

This will prevent flakiness and dandruff

Also , due to poor water pressure sometimes the soap/shampoo residue is not cleaned well from roots of hair which is a problem

This is why when you shave your head , the residue is washed away by water / shower , and also exposure to air/oxygen etc is healthy for your scalp skin

The worse thing you can do is , wash your hair with 3-4 commercial shampoo and its residue (left over) stuff is collected invisibly on your head skin which later becomes flakes

People who may be using substandard shampoos or using Soaps to wash their hair , they will see more and more (invisible residue) piling up close to the roots of their hair, this will then start to itch and cause you to scratch, you might think ok if I cleaned my head with 3-4 shampoos it should be cleaner but in reality you are piling up layers and layer of residue on your head from these low quality shampoos

Short hair , allows you to properly clean your head , wash it with proper water pressure , and if you use a good quality Shampoo (which has medication) for dandurf in 2 application your head becomes clear as LCD screen

And yes daily Showers , morning and showers also do wonders

Something that I have seen up close in the Army life. The use of "shampoo" with moisturizing element, essential to keep the scalp hydrated and prevent from flaking, is very limited amongst the ranks. They mostly use soap, and that too the coarse kind not only to shower with daily, but also wash their hair. Over time, the scalp dries up and dandruff becomes your best friend. Some people are pre-disposed to this problem so not much that they can do about it, but for a vast majority, curbing the use of soap to wash hair and using cleaning agents with moisturizers, such as shampoo would do the trick.

Well said. I have personally been told that soldiers use soap to wash their hair by a soldier himself. However he complained about availability of shampoo too in the area he was posted at.
