Any credible source where he claims Independence. He has only asked greater autonomy for Tibet and freedom to practice their religion. All valid requests.
Yeah right, he never claims for Independence of Tibet.

At a time when his people are enduring what he termed "cultural genocide," the Dalai Lama, the temporal and spiritual leader of Tibet revered worldwide as a man of peace, toured Boston yesterday to gain moral support for the cause of Tibetan liberation.
The Dalai Lama said he believed China is on the brink of major changes that could significantly affect the fate of Tibet, a formerly independent country invaded by the Chinese in 1950 and subsequently annexed.
