DAE annual report 2016: Do we have tactical low-yield nuclear weapons?

Correct me if I am wrong, but how would Nuclear weapons act as a deterrent if we don't reveal them to our enemy
IMO, having Nuclear weapon is not much a deterrent against a Nuclear weapon adversary.

Types of Nukes, MIRV,Tactical/ Thermonuclear and Nuclear policy etc are also important.

For example - Israel has a unofficial Nuclear policy (Samson's option) to target most of the Muslim world, if it's existence get threatened.

They have 3000 + km missile even though that don't have any enemy at that distance. Why ?

Now compare that with India - we have a official policy of "no 1st use" - by declaring it we have lost that surprise.

However, the current government had promised to dump this policy.

Even the status of most of our weapon system are in public domain via CAG and parliamentary committee of Defense.

In China nobody know how Armor, Arty or IFV they induct each other and how many of them are fail or success.

Too much media activism in defense is not good.
