I would not say 'must'. We have no dependency in anything with Turkey. They are a faraway country. They may become a source of military hardware in future. But China, Russia will remain far far dominant military supplier of BD in foreseeable future.Bilateral trade is now around 1 billion dollar which can be increase in future. That's it.So,good relation is good but neither country will loose anything substantial if there is no good relation.
well, I would look at it from a broader perspective....
point one, just as you've said that Turkey is a faraway country, it can also be said of the US and EU.... and why not even Russia?.... so, does that mean that we should have the closest relationship with India?..... probably not.... so, distance is not really an issue....
point two, if the Russian Federation collapses on its own weight due to socioeconomic stress, would we still depend on Russia for our military hardware?..... probably not.... so, there is no permanency in relationship with anyone unless someone pledges allegiance to Bangladesh's thinking....
the issue is, geopolitical understanding based on basic thoughts should determine relationships among nations, not economic, military or any other backup.... Bangladesh is no longer an insignificant country.... its footsteps are heard all over the globe.... so, we have to have interaction with anyone that we need to....
Turkey is very important to us.
1. One of the biggest importer of our goods.
2. They are always supportive in international arena.
3. We have historical ties since Bengal sultanate.
4. One of the few countries which we are negotiating on free trade.
5. We source some of the military hardware from them.
good points....
perhaps geopolitical realities can give this list a fulfillment...
