Located in China's northwest, Xinjiang is where east meets west, where Asia connects with Europe as it has done since the days of the Silk Road.

Xinjiang is rich in cultural and ethnic diversity for here it has 13 ethnic groups calling it home. They are heir to a rich cultural legacy which has been handed down over the centuries.

This place is very much racially diversified and you can see people of different looks. I am an East Asian and I personally prefer pro East Asian features, the fact is that there are some famous actresses from Xinjiang who all look very much like Han Chinese and they play Han Chinese roles in their movies and TV shows. Caucasian looking people can hardly have any chance at least in China's entertainment business. Which type do you prefer?

With the help of some makeup ,these Xinjiang girls look just like Han Chinese and some of them are pretty famous in Chinese movies and TV shows.

This huge region is the cross road between East Asia and Europe and you can see basically all kinds of Eurasians living there. Although they look very different even within their own ethnic groups, generally speaking ,Turkic people look more like Han Chinese and Persian people look very foreign.

Different ethnic groups in Xinjiang ,(no Uyghurs in this photo) besides Uyghurs, never heard of any other ethnic groups from Xinjiang have any problems with the government, not even one of them.I guess even for Uyghurs the extremists account for only a tiny negligent number, I have some friends just came back from Xinjiang and said it is a very peaceful place and people there are very friendly, never felt any sense of danger during the whole 2 week trip there. There are 13 ethnic groups native to this vast land.

Xinjiang Tajiks still stubbornly hold on to their decades old Chairman Mao worship and many households have Chairman Mao's portraits, a custom which nowhere else can be seen in China today.

Kazakh Chinese, in the last couple of centuries, whenever there was a riot or foreign invasion in Xinjiang, Kazakhs had always unexceptionally chosen to organize and fight on the Chinese government side to keep Xinjiang part of China. They repeated showed their unwavering loyalty to China in the history.
