KHAR: Two mortar shells fired from across the border in Afghanistan slammed into a Pakistani house on Tuesday, killing at least two women and wounding 12 other people, officials said.

It was the latest in a series of deadly cross-border incidents that have raised tensions between the neighbouring countries, but it was not immediately clear who fired the shells.

The mortar rounds exploded in Gabri village, 60 kilometers (40 miles) northwest of Khar, the main town of restive Bajaur tribal district.

“Two women were killed and 12 other people were wounded when mortar shells fired from across the border fell into a house,” local administration official Syed Nasim Shah told AFP.

Administration officials in Khar confirmed the casualties.

Hundreds of Afghans took to the streets in the eastern town of Jalalabad on Monday chanting “death to Pakistani invaders” to protest against cross-border attacks that they claim have killed dozens of people.

In recent weeks tensions have sharply risen on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan’s Kunar and Nangarhar provinces, which villagers say have been bombarded with hundreds of rocket attacks.

Pakistan says its security forces may have fired a few accidental rounds into Afghanistan while pursuing militants. It also says that insurgents from Afghanistan have crossed the border to attack security checkpoints.

BS ........................... what was responce of pakistani forces? damn fire some MLRS .

But that has not happened at all. After all, you've threatened to withdraw forces from Afghan border and put them on our side, haven't you? How are you going to fire even a bullet with all troops in a border that is peaceful in reality and conceptualized as hostile? Now because of your India obsession, 2 innocent women have died and 12 people are seriously injured. Whose fault is it? Before blaming even the Afghans or us or Israelis or Americans, please blame your generals.

For years, they have manipulated with your mindset and driven Pakistanis into a mindset of warpath against a threat that was initiated by them to consolidate their power and hold over you. Now you're having a problem with an enemy that doesn't even exist as an organized Army. The anger you have against us for things we didn't do, take it out on them. They not only soured your ties with us, but screwed your entire neighborhood's foreign policy by playing with fire. Not only that, they even screwed relationship with a long term ally like US; all other allies of US are prospering states with vast wealth and developed infrastructure while you alone had to suffer. Whose fault? Not US; your Army's.

In short, the solution to your problem is not warring with neighboring countries but eliminating this power domination of Army in daily life and politics. No country having a long term military government prospers. Army is the protector; true. But it is only a part of nation building, not the heart of nation building. Your problem is internal and the solution to this problem is also internal. By keeping your attention, hatred and anger, your military continues to hold power, play in luxurious gold courses, live in lavish mansions and enjoy the life of total comfort while common Pakistanis are tearing each other apart in Karachi right now.

The only entity responsible for your current status is your military top brass. And not just one or two generals, but every single general from the times of Yahya Khan and Zia Ul Haq till today. The day you re-order and take reins of your country, would be the day all your problems would solve by themselves.

China has "warned in unequivocal terms that any attack on Pakistan would be construed as an attack on China", The News daily quoted diplomatic sources as saying.

The warning was formally conveyed by the Chinese foreign minister at last week's China-US strategic dialogue and economic talks in Washington, it said.

For his part, Gilani reiterated Pakistan's support for its policy of 'One China' and said his country fully supports China on the issues of Taiwan and Tibet.

During her briefing today Jiang skirted questions about Pakistan-China signing new defence agreements. Asked about assertions by Pakistan's Ambassador to China Masood Khan before Gilani's arrival that new defence deals would be signed, she said the two sides signed agreements in economy, technology, finance and energy resources.

"As to specific cooperation, please refer to relevant companies," she said, adding that China is actively implementing pledges to help pro-disaster reconstruction and exerting utmost to help tide over difficulties."

Dont worry, China said a attack on Paksistan is an attack on China and so far I havent seen China protecting itselfs.

Chinese people are good at talking I must admit.
