What's new

Crony Capitalism catapults Anil Ambani’s fortunes as Rafale chosen to fly in Indian skies

Whats worse is that talented entrepreneurs who created wealth and value for GDP were looked down and supposed to feel guilty for millions of others who were still poor.
That's precisely what I meant with 'unnecessary' Socialism.
Truly speaking what we need is more encouragement to capitalism with emphasis on transparency rather than remaining in past ideology of Garibi Hatao!
couldn't agree more

Yah this has been floating around for a long time now...wikileaks just adds extra credence to it. A family dynasty ran this country as colony pretty much for whole of cold war...they just were not directly from foreign shores (yet at least)....so we felt better about it all (compared to pre-47). Their major biggest achievement though I will credit them is they prevented any more famines from regularly happening like under the ones they replaced....Indian masses (because of way democracy works) were no longer as expendable as before.

Regarding this whole aircraft acquisition, its a pity because it indirectly salts somewhat a very nice aircraft (viggen) which would have fit into IAF quite nicely. Of course it was officially scuppered in the end because of the engine that volvo could not secure re-export license for from the US + its price....and so jaguar+mirage 2000 (in different deployed official roles) became only options.

guys have you read this ;)

So we should be expecting Congress-PPOI to publish documents
proving Modi adopted AAmbani ... or should we guess it that
Congress is jealous that the BJP don't need family ties to steal
and profit from public money?

... were no longer as expendable as before.

Sigh ... just sigh to the rightful use of italics!

LOL, are those Rafel also made by Rafael or are these two differenthg
scandals ... and how is any of this related to Dassault's cute Rafale?

By the way, let's play The Price Is Right for "brighties" :
For 526 crores, HAL was to produce a plane beyond what it knows and
in time for the IAF? HUM! Again, show us with the LCA if at all possible.

We'll see correctly assembled Rafales on brand new bases by 2019 with
an Indian owned and located company making parts for it and the ToT for
it now goes to the Kaveri and to saving airman Tejas instead of paying the
salaries of Dassault engineers telling HAL employees not to hammer in that
screw in that soldering hole and HAL foremen saying No, we do it like that here.

It's not the same deal. HAL wouldn't have been on time and you all know it.
It's not the same deal. Price is guaranteed whereas HAL usually ask for more.
It's not the same deal. Bases were not included in the MMRCA options.
It's not the same deal. 1 cold B€ invested in Kaveri is already showing results.
It's not the same deal. Less than 2 years to verify the above and see how DRAL
operates at which point comparison will be more credible but not that between
an imaginary ( never materialized ) bad deal and a modern industrial success ...
that between HAL churning out Tejases since and DRAL supporting actual Rafales
flying IAF roundels & Dassault offering more local production per additional order.

It's not the same deal because the extra cost is to cover all that was implausible
if not impossible in the first one : getting a quality product / in time / with some
Indian content / necessary customization and useful ToT and offsets ...

Wake up from that constant daydreaming and be honest dear logical Bharatiyas :
Even if it profits Anil Ambani some, don't you prefer that extra money goes to
skilled Indians in DRAL but also to other high tech Indian engineers developing a
modern jet engine to be entirely locally made or diverted to pension funds as old
HAL mini-bosses try to learn as slowly as possible in the hope they'll retire before
actually having to do any work in that new way?

It's just not the same deal.

For added local colour, is the dot the same for an old ugly woman with bad temper
versus the bubbly, bright, beautiful, baby-raising, bad in the right way cordon bleu
with a perfect figure we all expect/ed to marry?

I'm wondering because honestly, I have a limit to cash appeal sensitivity.
No matter how little you pay for crap is too much, no dot is big enough to
marry a cow ( real or figurative ) as no salary is big enough to do bad work.

But I digress ... in early 2019, say before Spring, we'll be able to directly
compare what HAL did for 526 crores and what Rafale GIE did for 1,570.
We won't be comparing different promises anymore. As we are less than
a month and a half from 2018, that's not quite 18 months.

I wonder how many anti-Indian articles Ashok will have unearthed by then ...
a lot surely at present pace. Maybe we should have a poll on that count? :agree:

Sorry for the slight name calling, great day all, Tay.
