China refers to Arunachal Pradesh as South Tibet and routinely objects to top Indian dignitaries’ visits to the area.

Nirmala Sitharaman
New Delhi: India on Thursday snubbed China and rejected its objections to defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh, asserting that the state is an integral part of the country.

“Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India and Indian leaders have that much freedom to visit Arunachal as they have in visiting other states in the country,” MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.

The Centre also snubbed Beijing’s reported statement that India seems to be “wavering” on its position regarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), categorically asserting that the “CPEC violates India's sovereignty and territorial integrity”.

India also made it clear that for talks with Pakistan to go ahead, there has to be a conducive environment and atmosphere free of terror and free of terrorists receiving support from Islamabad.

To a question on the next round of talks between Special Representatives of India and China on the boundary question, the MEA said both sides are in touch with each other.

“We do not have any confirmed dates for talks as yet. The two sides are in touch. Once we have some dates for it, we will let you know,” he said.

India’s position is principled: MEA
On Monday, China had objected to Ms Sitharaman’s first visit to Arunachal on Saturday and Sunday, saying her tour of the “disputed area” was not conducive to peace in the region.

China refers to Arunachal Pradesh as South Tibet and routinely objects to top Indian dignitaries’ visits to the area.

Asked about China’s comment on Wednesday that India’s stand on the multi-billion dollar Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is wavering, the MEA said New Delhi’s position on the issue is “very clear” and “principled”.

India has objected to the CPEC as it is being laid through Pakistan occupied India and boycotted the One Belt One Road organised by China in May.

India, China will develop understanding on CPEC: PHD Chamber President - Indian Kashmiris Speak in Favour of CPEC

‘China has come to our country and beaten us at our own game but it can’t afford to lose the site of India’

Faisul Yaseen
Srinagar, Nov 09:
India and China would develop understanding on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), PHD President of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anil Kumar Khaitan.
Talking to Rising Kashmir on the sidelines of a conference organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Kashmir Chapter, Khaitan said, “Ultimately, there will be some sort of understanding between India and China on CPEC and the two neighbours cannot afford to remain aloof economically.”
Pakistan is currently building the warm-water, deep-sea Gwadar Port with the assistance of China that is investing a whopping 46 billion US dollars on CPEC linking Gwadar Port with the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in northwest China.
CPEC is the Chinese dream of ‘One Belt, One Road’ (OBOR) and Gwadar holds the key to improve China’s connectivity with South, West, Central and East Asia, which would in turn have implications in limiting India’s outreach to the critical Eurasian region.
The PHD Chamber President said China was exporting about 60 billion dollars worth of goods to India every year and the exports were still growing.
“China has also started investing in India and set up factories in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Chinese mobiles have captured 52 percent market share in India,” he said. “China has come to our country and beaten us at our own game. China cannot afford to lose the site of India.”
For countering the influence of CPEC and Gwadar Port on the future of economics in the region, New Delhi is actively involved in the construction of Chabahar Port, 72 km west of Gwadar.
Chabahar Port in the Sistan-Balochistan province in Iran’s southern coast lies outside the Persian Gulf which is easily accessed from India’s western coast bypassing Pakistan.
New Delhi entered into a deal with Tehran to develop the strategic Chabahar Port to gain access to the Middle East and Central Asia and to counter Pakistan and China’s plan to develop Gwadar Port.
India has committed a 400 million US dollar investment in steel to construction of the railway connecting Chabahar and Zahedan, near Afghan border.
Khaitan said what happened in Doklam, was an example of what would happen with CPEC.
Earlier this year, Indian and Chinese armies were locked in a standoff in Doklam, a disputed territory claimed by both Bhutan and China.
“Finally, things got sorted out in Doklam as today nations don’t want to go to war and look at economics,” he said “Economics is more important.”

On subject: A country like India which can't even honor their end of the agreement made during partition has no right to join CPEC.

Trump is sending Ivanka to India while he is in China.. This is the respect Trump shows Modi even after he begged him to come visit.

See Trump is so proud of visiting China, it's on his tweeter background now. Look at Xi, he just doesn't give a fk. This is the kind of leader we are looking for.
