that is scary.... only car we had run that long here with tonnes of mods was nissan bakkie... production ran for 35yrs plus a record; it was an icon. but it was immensly pratical and for small business people or even electricians, contractors the car to be with.

I have my 1996 Toyota Conquest/Tazz hatchback -1300cc with over 450k on the clock; still keeps going and i use it locally; that was a beauty.

No. Prior to 1947 the land belonged to a colony called British India and was British crown possession and all peoples were subjects of the British crown sat in London. The crown ruled through a British viceroy. Have you ever seen the flag of British India?

In 1947 the British colony or the Raj was dissolved and shared out to two [three] successor states according to the wishes of the people. Here is a flowchart which should make it conspiciously understandable. I am always amazed at the historical ignorance of people and how fact/myth are mixed together created a distorted understanding of the reality as it was. As you can see India is as much a successor state as Burma/Myanmar, Pakistan or even Bangladesh are.

All our local industries are being destroyed one by one by these bunch corrupt politicans and bureaucrats. We have become beggars due to them. Our manufacturing industry has been shrinking. There are talks of importing second hand cheap tractors to bring relief to farmers but destroying our local tractor industry

We have multiple issues, motor industry has market monopoly. They don't allow anyone enter in market. Used vehicle and agro farming equipment are not allowed to import . Plus, every year Toyota,Suzuki etc etc price is going up without any valid reason. Our local industry is not used to any competition and they don't allow any competitor. It is good idea to import used tractor , because new tractor price is extremely high. Plus urea price is already sky rocketed.
Look at 2018 prices.. Average price of used tractor is around 3000 dollars .

If Pakistani govt. simply start audit of those who sell imported stuff, our economy will get fix. Local industry will flourish and more jobs would mean more economic activity.

You again have no sense about how economy works.
Ever wonder why India sell over the world make in India!
All what any country needs is jobs and foreign investment.
If you don't like Toyota Suzuki than bring in more investors, give them free land.
There's no ban on import of any vehicle, especially agriculture and construction.

Biggest issue is smuggling in cover of imports. Every importer pay bribe, which all goes to ruling party so that corrupt business continue.
The volume of corruption is many billions.
Smuggling through Afghanistan would soon end, if not already.

When we consider CPEC, only cement manufacturers in Pakistan are benefiting now as every other things related to CPEC are importing from China..

Everything related to CPEC should be computerized, New governments must find ways to reduced dependences on China, reduce loan interest rate, and promote local industries instead of importing everything from China. Since CEPC is a joint project, we can’t allow China to dictate us, we should only sign deals in which we see long term benefits for Pakistan.

Pakistan should buy trucks from India, Indian trucks are cheaper and better suited.

What about joint venture?
Iranian cars also good....
