The Lahore High Court on Thursday withdrew an amnesty it had earlier been willing to grant Khadim Hussain Rizvi, saying the time to provide a written guarantee — promising that Rizvi will not disrupt law and order if provided bail — has now 'passed'.

Rizvi was taken into "protective custody" by police in Lahore on November 23, 2018, after law enforcement agencies launched a massive crackdown against workers of TLP and Tehreek-i-Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYRA).

The crackdown came following Rizvi's call to party members to observe 'martyr's day' on November 25, the anniversary of the Faizabad sit-in.

As we all know I'm no fan of his. However in a country where MQM can wage war in Karachi for decades without a single person being imprisoned for it, where PTM can openly rally for sedition, where journalists can publish treason daily, where state level drug dealers are being released - why keep a hold of him for getting a bit too brave at a protest? He's not done anything anyone else with political connections in this country hasn't done. He just lacks the connections in the elite circles.

Liberal street gangs like PTM are a fart in a hurricane, they can never pose any threat to even a single district let alone the state but Khadim Rizvi is another matter altogether, this country lives and breathes Islam and hence when someone crosses a line and he has a religious following, well, things can turn ugly pretty quickly on a state level. Inciting people using islam in Pakistan is the most dangerous threat to the state and hence the iron hand with which Khadim was dealt with.

Threatening to overthrow the govt is not that big a deal, Khadim actually crossed the line when he directly threatened the state with calls of rebellion in the Army. Even if he didnt mean it, this imbecile should never again see the light of day.

I think Khadim Rizvi has the constitutional right to protest in peaceful manner. In November 2017, Faizabad sit-in protests by the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan was to protect the Muslim identity of Pakistan and I fully supported them since the government lied about the scale and impact of these illegal changes. The PMLN government under pressure from foreign countries changed the oath in the new form-A, the words “I solemnly swear” and replaced it with “I believe” in the clause related to Khatm-i-Naboowat applicable to the non-Muslim candidates. Most political parties were also onboard due to foreign pressure to these changes and only Majlis-e-Tahaffuz-e-Khatme Nabuwwat took the right step and protested against this unIslamic changes. The the government claimed it was "clerical error" and they thought the Pakistani Muslims were that stupid. What if Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari also dropped last three zeroes from the value of their assets and called it a clerical error.

I love Khadim Hussein Rizvi sb, but I honestly believe they messed up by being too outspoken and peaking too early. They should have used the Tayyib Erdogan model - slow, steady and subtle but like all Pakistanis they got too excited. This was a movement which would have got stronger over time and was on its way to accumulate a large vote bank. If Khadim Hussein Rizvi sb had moderated his use of language and managed the media better then I guarantee that more people would’v flocked to him, even those from the educated class.

TLP was a threat to all of the established parties because this had massive street power from its inception and its main vote bank are the sunni working class which are the majority in this country. These guys would have implemented the real Riasat e Madina model, not the gimmick which we are seeing now.

If things had progressed smoothly, they could have been the main opposition 2 elections at the max but they shot themselves in the foot.

Allah ta’ala will reward those who are on Haqq - whoever that may be

Musharaff, the Sharif clan and Zardari clan are still at large ...why haven’t they been jailed indefinitely? Because all of these parties are the system - and Khadim Rizvi threatened the status quo

The Muslim laws of Pakistan cannot be changed without extensive consultations and the government must realize that the Muslim parties have huge support among the citizens of Pakistan even if they do not vote for these Muslim parties. The PMLN actually initiated this dark chapter in our history by changing legislation without any consultation and lied about the scale and impact of these changes. They should have made their intentions clear in the National Assembly and had a debate and then approved the changes. Instead they hid these changes in with other legislations and tried to lie when it was exposed. Then they claimed that these changes are minor and does not change the spirit of the law. If these changes are so minor then why did they made them ? When they were forced to roll back the legislation they claimed these changes were made due to the "clerical error" in the first place !
