Country to have 45 new cities

Unfortunately, those who can remove him are birds of same feather. Now what is the solution. I mentioned on this forum earlier also that those living outside especially in US have no comprehension of Pakistan dynamics, politics and statesmanship.

There is no effective solution here, Sir. Either Pakistan develops proper institutions and implements the rule of law, or it will soon destroy itself. There is no third choice here. (And I comprehend Pakistan very, very, very well.)

Country to have 45 new cities
Govt project aims at providing quality civic facilities to people of far-flung areas and reduce pressure on existing urban centres

ISLAMABAD - The government is going to develop 45 new cities across the country to effectively tackle the influx of rural population to urban centres and upgrade the living standard of people in the under-developed areas. The initial survey for ‘Smart Cities Project’ has already been completed.

Sources in the government confirmed to The Nation that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is so keen to materialise the project that he is himself monitoring the progress and taking reports from Planning, Development and Reforms Minister Ch Ahsan Iqbal on regular basis.

On the direction of PM’s direction the ministry had engaged a firm of international repute for the conduct of initial feasibility and survey of the project across the country and proposed sites for some 17 smart cities in Balochistan, 12 in the Punjab and eight each in Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

When contacted the officials in Planning Division informed that while conducting the survey it was kept in mind that the new cities should be located in the remote and under-developed areas of all the four provinces.

The aim is to bring the people of these areas at par with the developed cities of the country and also check the growing migration of the people from these areas to the developed parts, where the civic infrastructure was already unable to take the burden of the growing population.

They that the idea behind developing these cities is to provide quality living standard to the people of these remote areas in their own vicinity where they would have quality health, education and other civic facilities.

Share of Urban Population in Pakistan has increased from 32 % of the population in 1998 to 40% today; if current trends of rural to urban migration continue, this share will exceed 50 % in 2025. Currently, nine cities have populations exceeding 1 million each, and 75 with populations between 100,000 and 1 million. Pakistan’s existing cities contribute 78% to the country’s GDP and 1% increase in urbanisation leads to a 1.1% increase in the economic growth rate.

But population influx is badly straining the existing urban centres. The inability of the cities to absorb, comfortably accommodate, and meaningfully employ rural-to-urban migrants exacerbates social and ethnic tensions between ‘native’ and ‘migrant’ segments, besides creating a host of other problems.

With the development of new cities the burden of people’s influx to the major centres of the country for jobs, education, health cover and better living standard would reduce. The law and order situation would be effectively managed in these new cities as the government would make sure that the population of these new urban centres do not exceed one million.

Sources in the government said that all these smart cities would be linked to the motorways and main roads and it would be make sure that the distance of these cities from main motorways and main highways would not be more than one hour drive.

As these new cities would be planned one it would be ensured that the markets, parks, hospitals educational institutes should have ample capacity to cater to their requirements, the sources added.

Officials in the Planning Division informed that initially one model smart city would be established in each province for which they have already sought suggestions and proposals from the provincial governments and would initiate on ground work by next year provided the readiness of the provincial governments.

These officials said that they would preferably establish the new cities in the calamity hit areas so that the people of these devastated areas could be brought at par with the developed areas of the country.

It was further informed that a number of national and international firms in the field have shown great interest in the project and the government is considering making it public-private joint venture by engaging some local or international construction companies.

Country can have million cities won't make difference what makes difference is what you have is running 150% efficiency

Pakistai cities are running on ad hoc basis , with no mayor or leaders with legislative power of any kind

Crime is rampant due to weakness in police infrastructure and performance

Applies to most Pakistani cities
  • City cleaning system (Fail)
  • City traffic management ( Fail)
  • Illegal vehicles on road (Fail)
  • High ratio of accident (Fail)
  • Policing of neighborhoods (Fail)
  • Stopping food horders (Fail)
  • Water supply (Fail)
  • Hospital performance (Fail)
  • Universal quality in schools (Fail)
  • Pollution in old vehicles (Fail)
  • Institution all ad hoc operations (Fail)
  • Transport system broken (Fail)
  • High Crime rate (Fail)
Not one area that can be stated as a success for Government or due to Democracy

The list goes on and on, the people running shows are crooks fake degree holders, or sifarishi workers. They don't work on improvements because they want to save the $$$$ and then transport it to UAE or offshore money lundring

  • Parliment
  • Court
  • Lawyers
  • Press

All have failed by my account , if an institute can be influenced by money or flat in UAE or property then these institutes have failed !!! the nation

When I have a conversation with my parents I am debating with them , how is Pakistan different then war torn Somalia ? or African country ? and the answer is very simple we are almost at the same stage !!! of collapse of institutes

  • When I see parliment building I feel hate, I really really really really hate this luxury building
  • When I see lawyer's or judge I hate them, I hate them becasue they always bail out criminals
  • When I see anything that resembles democracy I hate it (How it is implemented in Pakistan)

When I see stuff in news that MOB , captured a crook and then beat and killed him it reminds me that Somalia and Pakistan are slowly starting to look alike

What I hate the most now are the "Tabsara" Shows , TAMASHA , where 3 analyst and political Karkunana , go on a show to save their beloved while Pakistan is burning

  • Why is it so hard to court marshal , and hang corrupt politicians !!! ?
  • 7-18 Days all politicians can be cleaned out or deported (property confiscated)

Ye koon sa ...Ch....yapa , Act of Law or court hai Pakistan main , ke aek choor , 1000 choor ka muhafiz hai parliment main

Aek Bistar main Khoon choosne wale KHATMAL hoon ager ape 10000 beds bhi khared lain to khatmal nahi marain ge if you keep all beds together in close proximity with out killing the KHATMALs first

Pakistani politicians KHOON choosne wale KHATMAL hain , and it will be a insult to KHATMALS so I apologize to their race

Nothing can replace proper and due process, Sir.
Maybe a confession can,, it usually does!

Ownership of companies are undeniable and has been confessed too; therefore there is no need for any judicial commission to probe into.

Could not agree more, but as long as we have these law makers who are all yellow and can make laws for their personal interest, like life time benefits and 10 times increase of remuneration, VVIP protocols, etc etc. Nothing can be changed. Change can only be brought in by that person who is ready to forego his or her deserved right. E.g. Ahmed Nijad of Iran who donated expensive carpets of presidency to orphnages and left the presidency on his scooter to resume is original job as teacher.
It is only then a change will come in.
Only if we had such leaders,, but then again, we don't have such nation/public either so that is that! EVERYONE is after personal gains. However i do agree that we need some good leaders and then we need us to act as a nation and bring along the changes that seem more necessary then ever now to move forward.

Such lawlessness is always capricious and condemns Pakistan to keep repeating its mistakes of the past. If the PM has done anything wrong, he must be removed by due and legal process, not by lawless behavior.
Agreed, the BEST option will be exactly what you proposed.
