Myanmar's army chief, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, said the violence - 93 clashes since Aug. 25 - was a bid by the insurgents to "build a stronghold", according to speech to officer trainees, posted on a military Facebook page.
Make no mistake, he is the man behind all the violence. While the world focuses on Suki, he is ignored. He planned it that way, and it appears to be working.
It is indeed a non-military aggression coming from Burma. They have laid a groundwork should Bangladesh spearhead any assault against Rakhine. By inducing us to attack, they have indeed created that advantage. And thankfully, we didn't give them that advantage. When the Burmese posters here say that Bangladesh is a distant thought, it's either they are lying or is brainwashed. They have very well factored Bangladesh into their strategy.
Much of the country's affairs are controlled by their military. And there isn't much chance for that to be going away anytime soon. The only significant change now is that civilians have some power. What people do not realize is that both Suki and the generals sing from the same Buddhist nationalist ideology. The difference is that she is a civilian. She wanted a piece of that power (her father being a military leader once upon a time). At heart, she is a ruthless politician. They are a stubborn people.
You know, India has made donations to the refugee crisis. China? Not a single cent.
For as long as their military controls civilian affairs, that country will never realize its full potential (with or without Suki). China is the main beneficiary here. They want influence in South and South East Asia and control as many points as possible should any conflict with the US surface. Thailand's deportation of suspected Uyghur separatists is a testament to the reality. And there's the SCS drama. These are all linked.
India has investments, but nowhere near the strategic depth that China has. They are competing against China. If anything, that military regime needs to be destroyed for the Burmese civilian to realize his/her full potential. Otherwise, they are the ultimate losers in the end.
Bangladesh cannot do this alone. It needs friends. And Bangladesh doesn't have any 'real' ones at present.
"india" and "help" do not go together;
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
What is happening over there is beyond your party politics.
