The Western media and governments have hushed up or sanitized atrocities by India in Indian Occupied J&K. They have hushed up or sanitized lynchings, abuse, murders and discrimination against non-Hindu Indians.They’ve sanitized or hushed up the blatant discrimination & violence & protests tied to India’s discriminatory laws on citizenship & refugees. They have hushed up India’s support for terrorism and unprovoked military aggression in the region and hushed up India’s expansionist, greedy and insecure behavior since independence.


All of this because of the Western Establishment’s Quixotic obsession with waving at the Chinese Windmill and outlandish hopes of India ‘containing China’.

And how this post doing any good with this thread apart from providing further motivation and content to a poster indulging in conspiracy theories, bad mouthing and evil wishing?

Would a counter argument or a sermon reminding of what western media has been hush hushing about Pakistan till 9/11 to contain what not be welcomed here?

There’s no conspiracy theory here - the Western Media and Government’s double standards and whitewashing of Indian atrocities etc are clear as day.

Nothing was hushed up about Pakistan till 9/11 but you can have that discussion on the relevant thread. This is tied to West covering up India’s poor Coronavirus response.

Definitely on a relevant thread, however got intuitive seeing you talking about subjects like CAA/NRC, anti minority riots etc on a thread which even doesn't relate to western media hushing anything up. Infact its a western media report raising concerns on Indian testing strategy and disclosed numbers. That's not covering up.

By the way is Pakistan doing better in tackling corona crisis? How is western media response on it?

With respect to the Pakistani response to COVID-19, unlike India, Pakistani media is full of criticism and scathing analysis of the GOP’s response, even if, arguably, the criticism isn’t always justified. That’s something that has set the Pakistani media & commentators apart from the Indian media, especially since Musharraf allowed private TV channels to proliferate, but even before that with some of the print media - we tend to engage in a much greater degree of introspection, at times to the point of unwarranted self-loathing/self-flagellation.

And as for your ‘study’ - the number of India media clips and articles bashing Pakistan and pushing lies about Pakistan, available via google search alone in contrast to similar pieces in the Pakistani media should illustrate the Indian obsession with Pakistan pretty clearly.

At least 15,000 people who may have caught the new coronavirus from a Sikh religious leader are under strict quarantine in northern India after the man died of COVID-19.

The 70-year-old guru, Baldev Singh, had returned from a trip to Europe's virus epicentre Italy and Germany before he went preaching in more than a dozen villages in Punjab state.

Nineteen people who were in contact with the preacher have already tested positive for the new virus, said Vinay Bublani, a local deputy police commissioner.

Results are awaited for more than 200 other people, who were tested.

The case has sparked one of India's most serious alerts related to the pandemic, with special food deliveries made to each household under even tighter restrictions than the strict 21-day nationwide stay-at-home order imposed by the government.

"The first of these 15 villages was sealed on March 18, and we think there are 15,000 to 20,000 people in the sealed villages," said Gaurav Jain, a senior magistrate for the district of Banga, where Singh lived.

"There are medical teams on standby and regular monitoring," he told AFP news agency on Friday.

'Shadow of death'
The guru and his two associates - who have also tested positive - ignored self-isolation orders on their return from Europe, and were on their preaching tour until Singh fell ill and died.

The case has stunned India and a popular Punjabi singer based in Canada, Sidhu Moose Wala, released a song about Singh that has been viewed on YouTube more than 2.3 million times in less than two days.

"I passed on the disease ... roaming around the village like a shadow of death," say the lyrics to the song, which Punjab's police chief Dinkar Gupta has encouraged people to listen to as a warning.

With 918 confirmed coronavirus cases and 20 deaths, India's toll is lower than other countries afflicted by the pandemic, but experts say many infections have not been detected due to a lack of testing.

The South Asian nation of some 1.3 billion people reported its first coronavirus case on January 30 but in recent weeks the number of infections has climbed rapidly.
