Pakistan receives another batch of SinoVac, Sinopharm vaccines

  • NDMA says three million doses of SinoVac and seven million doses of Sinopharm have been handed over to the Ministry of National Health Services

Pakistan has received 10 million doses of coronavirus vaccines, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) informed on Wednesday.

In a tweet, the NDMA said that three million doses of SinoVac and seven million doses of Sinopharm vaccines, procured by the authority, arrived in the country on September 19 and September 21.
The doses have been handed over to the Ministry of National Health Services, the NDMA said.

On September 17, Pakistan had received another consignment of 0.5 million doses of Sputnik vaccine. Pakistan has been inoculating the citizens with CanSino, Sinopharm, SinoVac, AstraZeneca, Moderna and Pfizer, and Sputnik vaccines.

The country has stepped up its vaccination drive, administering over 70 million doses of the coronavirus vaccines. In order to encourage the citizens to get vaccinated, the government has warned that it will put restrictions on unvaccinated people from October 1.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) warned that from October 1, restrictions will be imposed on unvaccinated citizens. The forum urged the citizens to get vaccinated so that they can move unrestricted.
Meanwhile, the country reported 2,333 new cases out of 51,139 tests conducted during the last 24 hours. So far, Pakistan has tested 19,001,178 people out of which 1,230,238 tested Covid-19 positive.

So far, Sindh has reported 452,267 cases, Punjab (424,701), Balochistan (32,796), KPK (171,874), Gilgit-Baltistan (10,264), AJK (33,864) and Islamabad (104,472).

The national positivity ratio was recorded at 4.56%, while there are 4,641 critical cases. Meanwhile, the active number of cases now stands at 61,947. During the last 24 hours, 47 more people succumbed to the novel virus, taking the death toll to 27,374.
Presently, the total number of recoveries stands at 1,140,917, after 3,261 more people recovered during the last 24 hours.

The NCOC on Tuesday also decided to lift additional non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) in six districts due to a decline in the Covid-19 cases. The NCOC has decided to remove additional restrictions from the districts of Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha, Gujarat and Bannu from September 22 (today).

ISLAMABAD: The number of daily COVID-19 infections continued to decline in Pakistan as the country reported 2,333 new cases during the last 24 hours, the National Command and Operation Centre’s (NCOC) data showed on Wednesday.

According to the latest statistics of NCOC, 2,333 new coronavirus infections emerged during the last 24 hours after 51,139 tests were taken, pushing the total caseload to 1,230,238 across the country.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan reported 2,357 more COVID-19 infections during the last 24 hours, pushing the nationwide tally of confirmed cases to 1,232,595, according to official figures released Thursday morning.

As per the latest statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre, 58 more people died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of fatalities from the virus to 27,432.

The country’s COVID-19 positivity rate now stands at 4.89%. It is pertinent to mention here that the country has been reporting a positivity rate below 5% for the last six days.

The country's active number of cases fell to 61,558. The active cases have fallen consistently for more than a week. Among the active cases, 4,561 patients are under critical care.

Earlier this week, Pakistan reported the lowest number of single-day infections in the last two months at 1,897 new cases. On the same day, Pakistan’s COVID-19 positivity rate also dropped to the lowest figure, 4.10%, since July 11. The country last reported a similar daily case count at 1,841 cases on July 24.

COVID-19 infections are decreasing in Pakistan, with 2,489 new infections reported on average each day. That’s 42% of the peak — the highest daily average reported on June 17.

Pakistan has administered at least 74,837,117 doses of COVID vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs 2 doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 17.3% of the country’s population.

During the last week reported, Pakistan averaged about 784,687 doses administered each day. At that rate, it will take a further 56 days to administer enough doses for another 10% of the population.

ISLAMABAD: With 2,233 new infections, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan reached 1,234,828, data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) showed on Friday.

According to official figures, 50 people died in the last 24 hours taking the number of deaths from COVID-19 in the country to 27,482.

The website of NCOC showed that the rate of positive cases during the last 24 hours was 4.23%.
Since the last seven days, Pakistan has been reporting a positivity rate below 5%.

The country's active number of cases dropped to 60,952. The active cases have fallen consistently for more than a week. Among the active cases, 4,409 patients are under critical care.

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said on Sunday that 42 people died due to Covid-19 over the past 24 hours across the country.

The data issued by NCOC stated that 1,780 new coronavirus cases were reported in a single day while 27,566 people have so far died due to the deadly disease across the country.

The data said the positivity rate is 3.98 percent.

Of the total number of confirmed infections, 3,090 patients recovered over the past 24 hours, the NCOC said. The data further said that over the last 24 hours 44,712 tests were conducted.

Meanwhile, 307,872 people have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

Earlier, Planning Minister Asad Umar warned that people who are not vaccinated will not be allowed to work from offices after this month He said that unvaccinated people will also not be eligible to enter shopping malls, use public transport, or to travel by air after the September 30 deadline.

The minister said that the government is taking steps to curb the virus spread for which vaccination is important, adding that a single-dose of vaccination is necessary for travelling on highways, while after October 15, no one will be allowed to use the motorway without vaccination.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan continued to see a downward trend in new COVID-19 infections as the country reported less than 1,500 daily cases Tuesday morning, for the first time in over two months.

According to the latest statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 44,116 coronavirus tests were conducted in the last 24 hours across the country, of which 1,400 came back positive

The country last reported less than 1,500 cases on July 23 at 1,425 cases.


The number of active cases, too, went to the lowest level since the last two months (July 20) at 49,968 cases.

The active cases, along with the positivity rate, have been consistently falling since the last month with new recoveries surpassing fresh cases reported almost daily. Among the active cases, 4,015 patients are under critical care.

Meanwhile, another 41 people lost their lives to the infection in the last 24 hours, pushing the national death tally to 27,638. This makes it the fourth consecutive day the country has reported less than 50 deaths in a single day.

With 2,042 recoveries in the same period, the tally for recoveries now stands at 1,164,219, NCOC data showed.

The positivity ratio stands at 3.17% across the country. Two days ago, Pakistan's positivity rate went below 4% for the first time in almost four months.

The COVID-19 has claimed 27 more lives across Pakistan over the past 24 hours.

The overall death toll has reached 27,893, while the total number of confirmed cases in Pakistan has been recorded at 1,251,348.

During the last 24 hours, 52,415 tests were conducted out of which 1,490 remained positive at the positivity rate of 2.84%.

So far, 1,175,489 people have regained their health from the pandemic, while 3,407 people are still in critical condition across the country.

A vigorous campaign to ensure a hundred per cent vaccination against COVID-19 continues across the country with enforcement of suspension of services to unvaccinated.

In compliance with instructions issues by the National Command and Operation Center, special teams at the district and Tehsil levels are checking the people in different sectors particularly transport and education to ensure mobility of only vaccinated people.
