ahhh 4 lane... :(. Wish it was a 6 lane project just like Lahore - Islamabad motorway.

. .
Wasn't this project started a couple years back?

It was planned out during the 93 Benazir government , started out in Nawaz Sharif's government(who took credit for M-2), Continued in Musharraf(who took credit for M-1) and now if this starts.. Mian sahab will take credit.
Nothing new.. that's us.

Doesn't matter, as long as the common man gets the benefit of using the Motorways. The Faisalabad and Multan is a pretty busy route and Motorways will help a lot in uplifting the areas that it passes through. New industrial estates can be established.

This is similar to the number of times people have taken credit for "starting" the Lowari Tunnel project. It still is not finished.

Even the N-J project has been around for 30 years. Basha Dam project has been around for around 10 years now. Starting a project and continuing a project are two different thing.

As if government is not pushing for energy projects. Budgeting doesn't mean all resources be diverted to just one or two things. If you can spare some time, do have a look at the federal budget. Amounts have already been allocated for both Energy and Law and Order.

some history for you..............
Pakistan Motorway Project is originally conceived by Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister of Pakistan, to provide a country wide link of limited access high speed highway to bring most parts of the country together which could result in greater economic growth, commercial activity and trade with ECO countries. It is envisaged that such a system of modern roads would enable Pakistan to step into the 21st century equipped with a first rate communication system.

The M-2 was conceived by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his first term(1990–1993) and later inaugurated on November 26, 1997,[1] during his second term. In late 2006, upgrades were made to the portion of the M-2 passing through the Salt Ranges due to increasing complaints of drivers. The upgrades included better marking of the road lines and increased size of road signs for easy visibility.

The M1 was conceived by deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his first term but was not inaugurated until 2004 by President Pervez Musharraf. On 30 October 2007, the remaining portion was inaugurated by President Musharraf and was opened to the public on 31 October 2007.

And yes here is something about why merely conceptualization isn't enough
The M4 is an under-construction motorway in Punjab province, Pakistan. It will be a 233 km long, 4-lane (with capacity to increase to 6-lanes) access controlled motorway with 8 junctions (interchanges). Upon completion, it would connect the M3 with the M5 and the cities of Faisalabad and Multan. Its ground breaking was done on 19 August 2009 and is expected to take 3 years to complete. Upon completion it would connect southern Punjab to Pakistan's Motorway Network.

Now M4 should have been completed by yesteryear. This clearly indicates that project was delayed. PPP had every chance to claim the construction of this but they didn't.

some history for you..............

I believe the idea, or rather the inception of the project was in Benazir's tenure as I vividly remember reading about it.
However, I may be wrong

Thank you.

P.S, point being.. there is a history of credit taking for someone else's actions.

.
but nooras will take the credit

jitni chadar ho utna he pyar phelana chahye

But same motorway will be connecting Karachi and Gawdar. So should be 6 or even 8 Lane. In future this will become the backbone of Pakistan.

Constructing 6 Lane together, or construct 4 Lane then extend it to 6 Lane is much expensive....

better make the railway network perfect of those 40 billion rupee its totally wastage of time poors cant afford expensive bus fares who travels on Motorways and poor's even dont own a car to travel between these cities i dont know what are the priorities of the government
