[CONGRATS] CHINA & OTHER COUNTRIES OFFICIALLY SIGN RCEP TODAY !! THE LARGEST ECONOMIC TRADING BLOC IN HUMAN HISTORY

Well this is a major win for world trade. The CCP must be beaming from eye to eye with smiles. I mean Australia and Japan, who'd thought that?

It's not gone noticed by the right wing press;

Fifteen Asia-Pacific countries on Sunday signed the world's biggest free trade deal, seen as a huge coup for China in extending its influence amid the pandemic.

The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) has been struck as the world's financial markets have been destroyed by coronavirus.

..its not ratified yet, right now its just a MOU, Each nation has a year to get it approved internally - until then its business as usual. It will be another ten years before this agreement will have the intended impact to the 14 economies. Japan and S.Korea appear to benefit more than the others, this will erode China's trade deficit to an extent unless China resorts to "unofficial" means to maintain its trade surplus.

There is a WSJ write up on RCEP but pay walled so not accessible to all.

Of course all in due time. I'm interested on how the level of trade will fair between S.Korea and Japan, due to their tensions. The Chinese will continue unabated, I don't think we won't see an erosion of their deficit, as their industrial capacity is just colossal. Although it does give some good players a way into the large Chinese consumer base, so it depends.

Serious question to posters on here, why did Pakistan not join this agreement? Or was it not even considered due to economical weaknesses?

No not yet
If Vinsmart gets funding it can establish factories in India.
We have the technology to make hundreds of millions smartphones per year.
Not a problem.
Making smartphones is like making shoes.
Okkkkk. You do know your parts are from China right?
What you mean with all parts imported from China? Nonsense. Just very few. As said if India provides the money then we can build.
Nobody knows what is vinfast or whatever vinphone from Vietnam, you are just a cheap assembly place like China 30 years ago. Alot of Chinese companies even use Vietnam to bypass sanctions.

A superpower with the privilege of printing the renminbi and buying up anything they desire has no need to maintain a petty trade surplus.

Japan, South Korea, Australia, and ASEAN can export to their heart's content.

China will gobble up all your products and commodities like a hungry dragon.

But China will not be paying with the US dollar.

The renminbi will be exchangeable for gold, backed by Iranian and Russian oil, and enforced by the full might of the Chinese military.

The writing is now on the wall.

An American little pink - nice, my first encounter with one, I feel privileged.

I think the first initiative is only for countries located near SEA region (Asia Pasific), some members here said that India is invited because of Japan. Cooperation within the region is more preferable due to several reasons like closeness (lower logistical cost thus more likely to create efficient value chain, more market penetration, trading among the members are already large, etc). The economic cooperation is also usually pursuit for the need to maintain peace in the region. ASEAN for instant is initiated after the war between Indonesia vs Malaysia/Singapore/British/Australia/New Zealand during 1960-1966 ended. Vietnam join ASEAN in 1990 after it leaves its occupation in Cambodia.

Bcs CN always use " make friend wt far countries while attack near countries "policy since Qin dynasty.

U think why CN attacked VN in 1979 ?? Bcs we share the border wt CN like Pak, but we wanna be strong enough to live alone. Same reason why CN dont want Pak tobe rich and strong

We don't need India in this agreement anyway. China dumps all of its cheap stuff to India, stuff that indian white masters dont want to buy, china dump in india. From furniture, phones, everything. India is being overtaken by bangladesh as a cheap labor ground. India think that it can take chinas spot 30 years ago producing cheap stuff but Nigeria, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh stole all those jobs. Now Indians have no jobs and left smelling their diapers :(

India’s problem won’t be other cheap labour countries, it is the rapid rise of automated manufacturing. Cheap labour will become irrelevant in the future. Machines will do it all. China enjoyed the most of the last era of cheap labour manufacturing.

The only reason we don't absolutely humiliate the Indians and post pictures of all their captured and killed is because they are our customers and we want them to keep buying our crap. Indians think they can be developed country but their peak is as a sub saharan nation. India economy won't grow much more they already achieved all they can while we still have a lot of growing to do.
