This should be kept in mind that while talking about south Asia, connotation of nuclear weapons is entirely different than its usually been taken. It is the very destructive nature of nuclear weapons which established an environment of deterrence and give a halt to aggression. There is a continued series of war but as nuclear weapons sets in it gives a halt although low intensity conflicts still continued. There is always a fear of nuclear exchange whenever the tensions go up but it is the indiscriminately catastrophe which doesn’t break into new war.

The question is, why these things didn't happen after hundreds of nuclear tests in the cold war era ??

Let alone the Tsar Bomba (which USSR tested in 1961), whose yield was around 4000 times more than that of Hiroshima's bomb.

The N-bomb is the only thing that is keeping the Asian countries from going ape shit crazy on each other's ***.it is a major deterrent to all the potential wars waiting to happen.

It has also helped keep the peace among the powers that fought WWII. The USA bombing of Japan to end WWII is often criticized here at the PDF. However, that singular demonstration of the destructiveness of atomic (let alone hydrogen) bombs has saved millions of lives since by de-motivating wars.
