Thanks @Mian Babban Major Agha's figure are okay but he is not always 100% accurate. I am part of a team that is researching with National Archives in London [including IWM] on this aspect of history. He's dropped out of sight. We used to exchange correspondence; he was very indulgent and a mine of information. And an iconoclast, treating both Pakistan and Indian generalship with equal contempt.

He has too short a fuse to do well in PDF.

He was an iconoclast, alright else he wud have retired as a jarnail, not as a major. I have sent him a mail twice in the last couple of years- I was planning to get him into either bukbuk or our own little home; but he hasnt responded. Hopefully he is well.

Good to see rajputs never worked for British in large numbers.

One more thing i noticed is that it was only bihari and UPwala rajputs who joined british ranks as there were no Rajput kingdoms in Eastern Sector. While almost all princl y states were located in west and held by rajputs. So rajput from western regions never joined British Army.

maybe it has to do with negligence/ignorance on part of the British. Bengal province was mistreated (Bengal Famine etc) and as such they didn't even bother drawing recruits from that region.
