Comparing Educational Attainment in India & Pakistan

What's really retarded, is that despite the case of "borderline retardation" we figured out a way to grow from a sub 3% annual growth stage to a trillion plus economy, that despite the latest troubles, is still the 2nd fastest (among the major economies i.e. trillion plus). Imagine, doing that with an IQ of 81.

Meanwhile, your cherished ally is again heading to the IMF for a fresh round of begging, AGAIN.

Back to IMF - Hussain H Zaidi

You're not the second fastest growing economy in the world, not by a LONG shot.

Indian GDP growth falls to 5.3% - Financial Times

And I have already made it clear several times before, that in my view... IQ tests are only really good for proving how good someone is at taking IQ tests. I don't consider it a sufficient indicator of general intelligence.

Pakistan literacy rate is around 15 % less than India and people say it is even less than that actually . What matters is the quality of education you receive . check out these videos about Pakistan from some rare honest Pakistanis .

It is quality of education that matters . That is why you see in every industry particularly those requiring high skills , India is doing much better . Eg - IT industry .

I am not aware about your previously stated position on IQ, but you sure could use a hand in comprehension skills. I clearly mentioned that india is the 2nd fastest AMONG the bigger economies - and by bigger, i mean - those with GDP over USD 1 trillion.

If there is another country (other than China), with a GDP of over USD 1 trillion, growing faster than india, please do enlighten us.

Next, as for the data you quote, though not incorrect, has been selectively chosen from reference points that suits your agenda of running down india. The indian economy slowed to 5.3% ONLY in Q4FY12. For the fiscal FY11-12, India registered a lower, but respectable, growth rate of 6.5%.

As for your views on IQ, well it's ironic that you concede to the insufficiency of using it as a barometer, yet in a well camouflaged, but sad attempt seek to label the indian population as "retarded".

Among the lower middle income countries only China and India has trillion dollar economy. So yes you are second among two. Good going.

Wakey, wakey: India slips to No 4 in growth sweepstakes | Firstpost

And the above article is only comparing India with other Asian countries.

Who chose the value $1 trillion as the break-off point anyway? That number seems to be plucked out of thin air to help the Indian cause.

If you're talking about "major economy", then you either choose the top 10, or top 20. Or top 15 even.

If we are to believe the Global IQ tests that show India with an average IQ of 81, that is quite damning.

In fact that score indicates something close to borderline retardation.

please we agree that chinese got high iq- that is why you are able to copy from pen to fighter jet.....pulsar oh sorry gulsar to bus....

How convenient?! The achievements by your own little nation are too petite to merit a mention, so you lend voice to your emasculated senses by arguing on behalf of China?!

India’s sheer size puts it in the league of more advance nations, whereas the low income levels put it at par with much smaller and lesser developed nations like Bangladesh. To exploit this dichotomy, and then to create a crude metric which features a simplistic combination of size and income levels, is a very cute attempt to channel your frustrations against India. But, it’s too foolish an exercise, at the end of the day.

There is no comprehensive index that can rank countries, based on data as wide apart. Therefore, outside of your childish attempts, one has to follow the more logical strategy to compare nations based on individual metrics.

On GDP growth rates, among the trillion plus league, india is second fastest. Amongst the poorer nations, india again performs well, beating not only the likes of Bangladesh, but a vast majority of nations. Among the relatively larger nations, only china and turkey do better. Other countries performing better than india are countries such as Iraq, Ghana, papua new guinea – which due to their small GDPs and uncertain economic conditions witness wild and volatile movement in terms of GDP growth.

BTW, wasn’t Bangladesh, next in line, after Pakistan to go beg at the IMF?!

From where Bangladesh came into the discussion? I was just pointing out the fact of Shining India. Thats all.. My bad.
Indians are all over the places in diick measuring contest. So when shown a bigger diick even from Bangladesh, they come back with wider puussys.. how ironic.

AGAIN, attention needed on your comprehensions skills.

If you had bothered to read the article that you quoted, you would have known that the story compares india with Philippines and Indonesia, ONLY for the Q4FY12 and 6 months ending mar 2012.

India, with 6.5% growth in FY12, is still the second fastest growing “major economy” with Philippines expected to grow at not more than 5% in 2012, after having chugged along at 4% in 2011. Indonesia, too, according to a Reuters poll will grow at 6.1% this year.

As for comparisons being restricted ONLY to asia, let’s take a broader picture. My choice of the USD 1 trillion mark seemed arbitrary to you and instead you recommended a comparison with the top 15 economies. Well for starters, the top 15 economies, according to world bank, are the ONLY USD 1 trillion plus economies. Hence, the choice for that mark was NOT arbitrary.

Secondly, even if you were to compare India’s growth rate of 6.5% against the 14 other nations from the top 15, India would still retain the title of the 2nd fastest growing “major economy”.

India came LAST in the worldwide OECD Educational tests.

Also, I would say that Pakistanis in general display a much greater level of intelligence than Indians (in my experience).

Pakistan didn't even participate in OECD tests

As far India performing poorly is because we were participating for the first time and students chosen weren't the best due to less time

Why are we even sitting and comparing our education system with the Pak education system???? Is this the benchmark we want to compare ourselves to? We should be looking at increasing education in the Gangetic plains, and other interior areas. We need to build up our lower education system today so that 20 years down the line we can compete with the European and American levels of basic literacy. Good students will go on to complete their higher education which is good today and can be strengthened tomorrow by putting more emphasis on research in the fundamental sciences. It is absurd to sit and debate with Pakistanis as to how we are better than them or whatever. Our aim is much higher and has to be achieved in the coming years.

.
Does it really matter which is better? It's not like both aren't atrocious. Are we really fighting over which one of us is more mediocre instead of accepting the problem and trying to improve it?
