A high-speed Amtrak train bound for Penn Station broke apart as it was cruising through Maryland on Tuesday, sources told The Post.

A high-speed Amtrak train bound for Penn Station broke apart as it was moving at top speed through Maryland.

The 2150 Acela was traveling from Washington D.C. to the Big Apple when the incident happened at about 6:30 a.m. The train was traveling at about 125 mph, according to the source.

“Someone could have been walking through the train when that happened and fell to their death,” said the source.

Amtrak officials confirmed the incident and said there were 52 passengers aboard at the time.

A photo shows the connector between two coupled trains broken and separated. Only the air hoses remained connected between the two cars, which both had passengers in them, said the source.

“There was a lot of sparking and smoking at the head of the train and a lot of bouncing around,” the source said.

A rescue train pulled up next to the crippled Acela and took the passengers to Philadelphia, where they then got other trains to continue on to New York City.

There were no injuries, said Amtrak officials, who added that they are investigating the incident.

“We are currently investigating the cause of the car separation, inspecting every Acela trainset, and taking any necessary actions to prevent a reoccurrence,” said Amtrak spokesman Jason Abrams.

The incident happened just two days after an Amtrak train traveling through South Carolina slammed into the back of a freight train, killing two workers. And last week, an Amtrak train carrying several members of Congress slammed into a garbage truck in Virginia.

Lmao!
Breaking apart into two trains while traveling at “high-speed”?

That is a really economical way to run the railway system!

According to the website of Jane's Defense Weekly, at the Singapore Air Show held at the Changi Exhibition Center from February 6 to February 2018, China Aviation Industry Corporation will showcase its Full size model of the Pterosaur 1 and Pterosaur 2 UAVs. This is the first time that the "pterodactyl" mid-altitude UAVs have been marketed to Southeast Asian buyers.

"Pterosaur" series is China's aviation industry launched the long-range reconnaissance and combat integrated UAV series. Pterosaur type 1 for the low-altitude models, pterosaur 2 for the pterosaur-1 based on the improved hollow model. Pterosaurs series UAV is mainly responsible for the implementation of reconnaissance, surveillance and ground combat missions, with independent takeoff and landing and cruise ability, space and coordination capabilities, ground relay control capabilities, on-demand loading multi-type photoelectric / electronic reconnaissance equipment As well as small space precision strike weapons.
A Pilot Dragon 1 UAV at the Singapore Air Show hung a Blue Arrow 7 laser-guided missile under each wing. Its captain 9 meters, 2.8 meters high, wingspan 14 meters, the maximum take-off weight of 1200 kg, the payload 200 kg.
The pterosaur 2 larger size, the 11-meter captain, wingspan 20.5 meters, 4.1 meters high, the maximum take-off weight of 4.2 tons, plug-in capacity of 480 kg, with 6 points to achieve 20 hours of continuous tasks Life. Foreign media think its combat capability and the US military's MQ-9 level.

China Aviation Industry also plans to launch the Pterodactyl 1D, the latest retrofit Pterodactyl 1D, by 2018. According to information obtained from the exhibition by Jane's Defense Weekly, Pterodactyl ID is estimated to be about 8.7 meters in length and 3.2 meters in height , Wing span of 17.6 meters. It can carry 400 kg of external storage at four wing mount points, and its mount capacity for weapons has doubled compared to the Pterodactyl.
It is reported that the Pterosaur 1 has been attacking the type 1 number in the PLA official service, but this model is far out of the market as China's Aerospace Engineering Group's "Rainbow" series, the current can only be sure to export the United Arab Emirates.
Observer Network military commentator said: Southeast Asian arms market has its "contagion" sexual characteristics, as long as a country bought some kind of weapon, its neighbors will soon be able to purchase similar positioning of the weapon. Currently "Rainbow" UAV has opened the Myanmar market, Myanmar's old enemy Thailand is likely to follow up to buy reconnaissance integrated combat drone. Among Southeast Asian countries, except for Singapore, which almost certainly uses UAVs and Vietnam is unlikely to purchase Chinese UAVs, most of them are potential users of the "Pterodactyl" series. In recent years, "Rainbow" series in the export success on many occasions, as the PLA's own model "Pterosaur" of course impossible to turn a blind eye to overseas markets.

Rail cars tumbled from an overpass onto a Georgia highway on Saturday, causing an evacuation and traffic headaches in a small town but resulting in no injuries.

CSX Railroad said 30 cars derailed. That included some that fell from the overpass onto Highway 90 at Byromville, roughly 55 miles south of Macon.

Resident Stephanie Chapman said she was on a deer stand more than a mile from town when it happened.

"You could hear the rail cars hitting each other — boom-boom-boom-boom-boom," Chapman told The Associated Press.

It happened around 7 a.m. Saturday in the town with a population of about 500.

In an emailed news release, CSX said four of the cars held petroleum liquefied gas. No leaks were reported, but officials were monitoring air quality.

Byromville fire chief Brett Walls told WMAZ-TV there was an early call for an evacuation within a mile of the site.

Chapman said that, initially, an evacuation was called for much of the town but the perimeter was soon reduced. She was allowed to go to her office roughly 300 yards from the site by midday while efforts continued to clear the jumble of cars from Highway 90.

"Crews are working to re-rail the cars without damage and remove the derailed railcars with damage from the area as quickly and safely as possible," the CSX statement said.

Last week, Japan’s renowned train safety reputation took a hit following a major crash with an oncoming cargo truck that derailed the train’s first three carriages, leaving the lead carriage badly twisted, smashing carriage windows, and bending an overhead power line.

An express passenger train moving at 120 kph collided with a 12-meter truck at a level crossing, killing the 67-year-old truck driver and injuring 34 of the 500 passengers on board in Yokohama, south of Tokyo. One passenger was reported to suffer serious injuries, while the majority reported minor injuries. The impact of the crash set the truck on fire sending black fumes billowing from the site.

The truck, carrying 12 tonnes of lemons and oranges, attempted to make a right turn but got caught on the tracks in the narrow 11-meter wide crossing. The truck company said the crossing was not part of the instructed route, suggesting the driver may have taken the wrong road.

Rescuers have recovered the bodies of six people in central China after a cargo train carrying aluminium ore hurtled off the tracks and crushed a house, local authorities said on Friday.

At around 10:00 pm on Wednesday the 25-car train derailed from an escape siding and overturned, hitting a house in Gongyi, Henan province.

Search and rescue operations concluded early Friday morning after the bodies of four crew members and two villagers were found.

Rescue efforts were difficult as the crew accommodation car and the first 14 wagons overturned and lay on top of each other, and were heaped together with a large quantity of aluminium ore, the Gongyi government said.

The train is owned by Chalco, China's largest state-owned aluminium producer. Each car held 60 tonnes of aluminium ore, authorities said.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
