Commonwealth meet shifted to New York as Pakistan refuses to invite J&K speaker

I don't even know why the commonwealth even exists. It's pretty much useless, even as an economic organization. It's simply to allow the Brits to have some sort of influence in former colonies, but even then, its next to worthless.

They used to say the same thing about SAARC. Any international diplomatic platform is valuable and important, provided we can use it to our advantage.

I don't know what is the definition of loser in your puny little mind but it is Pakistan that refuted to move from its position even an inch as compared to you who are jumping here and there on our meeting with Huriyat leaders.

As for your immature rants about various organizations.

UN - Kashmir still a disputed territory and we continue to raise Kashmir there. Only to frustrate you kids. Just a 1 day old news.

BRICS - Yup we are not a member. Doesn't matter us a lot either. You can't even stop us to violate ceasefire even for a single day despite bring a member of all mighty BRICS . :D

Arab League - And what exactly have you achieved by being an observer at this league? OIC still issues statements and resolutions on your atoot ang putting your chaddi in twist.

Come on kid. Come up with something more practical. Looks like you are looking for straws to claim victory of supa puwa India.
Didn't UN remove Kashmir from the list in 2010 ?

All the delegates must be feeling relived and must be thanking India that they are not travelling to Pakistan and risking sudden demise ;)

The issue is that since it's inception, it has done little to promote any sort of proper agenda. In fact, it has only served to keep UK influence from declining any further.

There are other, better forums that can and have done the job better.

:haha:

Great. Shows how firm Pakistan is on its position on Kashmir issue unlike confused chai wali sarkar who doesn't know what to do.

No loss for us. Saves us money that to be wasted on a useless conference.

Attention seekers. Just like a cry baby seeking attention from parents.

Common wealth conference has no importance these days !

We are still old time pals. So why leave our commonwealth? We are all anglophiles.

@Abingdonboy

While organisations like commonwealth have no clout of their own , they do serve a purpose by acting like a networking club . Quite like being a member of a Gymkhana Club or a Golf course which help in networking which in turn leads a number of things including forming pressure groups , creating opinions & having your voice heard.

Three countries left the Commonwealth but have since returned to membership. South Africa withdrew in 1961 when it became clear that its reapplication for membership on becoming a republic would be rejected. After the democratic elections of 1994, South Africa was welcomed back into the association.

Pakistan left in 1972, when other member countries recognised Bangladesh, and returned after the democratic elections of 1989.

However, following the overthrow of the democratically elected government in October 1999, the country was suspended from the councils of the Commonwealth pending the restoration of democracy. This suspension was lifted in May 2004, but reimposed in November 2007 after a meeting of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) in Kampala pending the restoration of democracy and the rule of law. CMAG met again on 12 May 2008 and agreed that the Government of Pakistan had taken positive steps to fulfil its obligations in accordance with Commonwealth fundamental values and principles; it accordingly decided to restore Pakistan to the councils of the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) has cancelled its conference to be held in Pakistan in September, after India protested against Islamabad’s decision not to invite the Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly for the meeting.

On August 7, New Delhi announced a boycott of the conference unless Pakistan invited the Speaker or the association changed the venue.

Sources said the CPA executive committee, which held a teleconference on Wednesday, showed “overwhelming support” for India’s decision. It was decided that Pakistan had violated the CPA constitution by not inviting an eligible member — in this case, the J&K Speaker — and the conference stood cancelled. Sources said 27 of the 28 members had the view that the venue of the meeting should be changed, unless Pakistan reversed its decision. P.D. Rai, MP, and Speakers of the Goa and Punjab Assemblies Rajendra Arlekar and C.S. Atwal, respectively, represented India.

New date for CPA meet not decided

The decision to cancel the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association meeting in Pakistan was announced by its Chairperson and Speaker of Bangladeshi Parliament, Shirin Sharmin Chaudhary. A new date and venue for the meeting is yet to be announced.

Earlier, at an emergency meeting of Speakers and Chairmen of Legislative Bodies in India convened by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumita Mahajan, it was decided to convey to the CPA headquarters in London that the Pakistan CPA Branch forfeited its right to host the conference by not inviting the J&K Speaker.

Earlier, while withholding the invitation, Islamabad said inviting the Speaker of the J&K Assembly was in violation of the U.N. Security Council Resolution 1991(1951) of March 30, 1951 and Resolution 122 (1957) of January 24, 1957, and contradicted the fundamentals of its foreign policy.

You don't need to tell what is our waste or not. Specially from a jerk like you who has 0 intellect and less than 40 IQ. We have all the ground that we need on international stage and best part is, you can't do anything about it except feeling good on meaningless events and organizations like BBIN, Commonwealth etc.

So shoo. You simply don't have the intellect of what Pakistan is doing at an international stage.

Probably there are inherent differences in our perceptions and the way we organize our thoughts.

For me, any forum, that gives me an opportunity to interact with people whom, otherwise I don't get to meet and talk to regularly, is important. It is all about keeping your options open. It has got nothing to do with the history of the forum, for dwelling on that is a waste of time. However, nothing stops one from interacting with the representatives from, say Rwanda or Kenya and talk about a few mutual interests.

The World is biased, that's a reality, I get it. But, if the cards are played right, then at times, it can be biased in my favour too.
Anyway, to each his own. :)
